Toe Up Knit Socks and Toe Up Crochet Socks | 2020 Sock-Along

Time to learn how to make toe up knit socks and toe up crochet socks with Marly Bird and guest designer, Rohn Strong. Get expert guidance with step-by-step video tutorials, a free sock pattern, and a facebook group to help answer your questions.

But First, A Whole Workshop on Crochet Socks!

Classic and Colorful Crochet Socks Workshop - Marly Bird

You’ll learn all about the toe up knit and crochet socks below. But first I have to tell you about the Classic and Colorful Crochet Socks Workshop that I’ve put together with Robyn Chachula. Many people think that crochet socks just can’t be as beautiful as knit socks and we set out to prove you wrong. In addition to great patterns, it includes 15 instructional videos with over 25 hours of tutorials covering everything you need to know to crochet a “fit-me-perfect” sock.

More About The Toe Up Knit and Crochet Socks

We work our way through our 2020 Sock-Along over the course of 3 weeks. It is for both knitters and crocheters. And as mentioned, we will be working on toe up socks.

Knit socks are a staple for many knitters. If you are working on your first or 100th pair I am sure that you will have fun and will learn some things along the way. Find My Complete Guide to Learning How to Knit Socks Here.

Crochet socks are a delicate dance of getting the structure of the sock without the bulk of crochet. Let’s learn from the best and stitch up the beautiful pattern from Rohn.

What is a Sock-Along

The 2020 Sock-Along is a make-along for both knitters and crocheters. We can all work together on this project as we each make a toe up sock. Rohn Strong is our special guest designer and has created a beautiful pair of crochet socks for our event. I, Marly Bird, designed the knit pair.

Make-alongs, in this case a sock-along, are a great way for knitters and crocheters to work alongside each other making something that is similar but not identical. Knitters and crocheters will both be making a pair of toe up basic socks, perfect for advanced beginners. This ‘vanilla’ sock will have build your confidence to work on any sock you want.

Over a three week period I will release new sections of the project giving us time to work along together. If you follow along with the links below you will be able to make each section for each week. At the end of the three weeks you will have a beautiful finished pair of toe up socks.

  1. Luann says:

I expected this following your knitting posts this past few weeks. Wow, I actually have all sorts of the correct yarn.

  2. Aida Hartmann says:

I looked for the links to the yarn you spoke about at yesterday’s event announcement, not in YouTube or here.
Please posarte, I didn’t write anything down thinking they would be linked below video.

  3. Linda says:

Looking forward to the crochet-a-Long. I have a 2.55mm steel hook from Susan Bates and a 2.25 Clover amor hook. Which would be best to use for the toe-up socks?

  4. June Milano says:

Hi Linda Says, try making your guage swatch with the 2.55 SBates hook first to see where you stand on guage. Go from there is my suggestion. 🙂 Marly has the necessary guage listed on her blog.
