Wedding Blanket Crochet-along

Crochet-alongs are so much fun and they are even more fun when you do it with your friends. When you join a CAL or KAL you get to work on the same project with everyone that is joining. For this special crochet-along I will be working with my designer friends to create a beautiful finished project.

The Wedding Blanket Crochet-along

On the Red Heart team we have a wonderful leader of the Joy Creators, named Ally. Ally got married in May and we wanted to do something very special for her. I got the Joy Creators together and we each made a square to put together to make a wedding blanket for Ally and her husband.

Now that we have all of these squares we wanted to share them with all of you and put together this community crochet-along. You will need to check the blog posts of the individual designers to know what your material requirements are. Through the project we all used Chic Sheep by Marly Bird™ to create and heirloom project for Ally.

What you need to know:

Each week on Monday and Friday there will be a new square released. Head to this blog post each week to get the new pattern.

Since each designer crochets with a different tension it will be very important to check the size of your squares as you go. They are all designed to be 12″ by 12″. Using this size square will give you a 5′ by 5′ blanket when finished. Keep checking that your squares are close to the right size to all of the others to make it easier to seam in the end.

At the end we will share the border pattern that we used. Feel free to use all of the squares or just the ones that you love and make multiple of them.

Thanks so much for joining us Jessie! It turned out beautiful and I hope that Ally can love it for years to come! Wishing them the best start and future.

    • Marly Bird says:

This has already started! If you take a look lower in the post you will see the list of designers that are joining us as well as the date of when their square is featured. We have two squares each week. Hope you will join us!

  1. Sarah Fields-Boyd says:

Am I missing a place where the yardage of each color is given? I don’t see it here or in the first block pattern.

    • Marly Bird says:

Hi Sarah- Since the blocks are each done by a different designer they will each tell you the yardage needed. We don’t have an overall yardage amount, sorry.

  2. Samantha Burleigh says:

Is there going to be an option to buy it all as one PDF at the end? I have a hard time paying $50 for one blanket pattern.

    • Marly Bird says:

Hi Lorraine- Since each block is coming from a different designer you will need to check with them to see what yardage you need for each block. Sorry, we don’t have a total yardage amount.

  3. Rose Wilburn says:

Marly, I cant seem to get the flux square to come out right by the 5th row. Something isn’t right. Help!

    • Marly Bird says:

What seems to be the issue with it? We have used this square before and it has been tested many times. Hope you can get it to work!

  4. Brenda J Dodd says:

What Colors did you use for this blanket in the Chic Sheep yarn, please, as i like these colors. Thanks in advance.

  5. Rose Wilburn says:

I got the block figured out using the diagram. When is the May 27th block going to be released?

    • Marly Bird says:

They should all be on the site now. We have to wait until the block is posted and then we can link back to it. Hope you having a great time with the blanket. Be sure to post it on Ravelry so that we can all see your progress!

    • Marly Bird says:

Hi Debbie-Sorry about that! It just means that we didn’t get the link from the designer yet. We update them as soon as we get the link from the designer.

  6. Phyllis Bachinski says:

Today is Friday July 12th and a new square is to be released but Monday’s square, July 8th, has still to be published. Very disappointed…

    • Marly Bird says:

Sorry to disappoint you Phyllis! We are working as fast as we can to get the new squares up. That is great that you are able to work so fast and keep up!!! Can’t wait to see your finished blanket! As soon as we get the link from the designer we load it to this blog post.

  7. Morag Robertson says:

I am not seeing the pattern links for the last two – Elk Studio and American Crochet. Is it just me or is there a problem? Loving the pattern so far and I am crocheting it as a wedding present for relatives in Australia!

    • Marly Bird says:

That is so amazing! Can’t wait to see your finished blanket! If the link doesn’t go anywhere it means that we don’t have that block yet. We get them updated as soon as we get the link from the designer. Sorry about the wait.

  8. Andriette says:

I am also finding difficulty in getting the 8 July pattern, it seems as if it has not been linked.

    • Marly Bird says:

All of the links get updated after they are live. I will be sure to check this link and make sure it is working!

  9. Chris says:

Why are some of the designers patterns not clickable links to a pattern? How do I get those patterns please?
