Wedding Blanket Crochet-along
On the Red Heart team we have a wonderful leader of the Joy Creators, named Ally. Ally got married in May and we wanted to do something very special for her. I got the Joy Creators together and we each made a square to put together to make a wedding blanket for Ally and her husband.
This square was designed by one of the team members at Red Heart. She isn’t part of the Joy Creators but she was a big part of getting the shower together and working with all of us and she wanted to join in on the fun. I am hosting the pattern here on my blog so that you can all make the square as well. Thanks Bobbie Matela for designing this special square for our Wedding Blanket.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this square into its own blanket?
Honestly… yes! The pattern says this square can be worked up with just two balls of Chic Sheep yarn and turned into a blanket all on its own. So grab your favorite colors and get to stitching!
What yarn do you suggest for this square?
So here’s the thing… the pattern specifically calls for RED HEART® Chic Sheep by Marly Bird™ yarn. You’ll need one ball in Color A (Platinum) and one ball in Color B (Velvet) to make this cute square.
How big will the square be when I’m done?
Yes! The gauge section tells us that the finished square measures 12 inches by 12 inches. Perfect for joining with other squares for a bigger project or just using as is!
Is this part of a bigger crochet-along?
It sure is! This X for Kisses square was designed for the Wedding Blanket CAL… isn’t that sweet? You can find all 23 other squares by heading to the original CAL blog post.
What does “Beg Cluster” mean?
Oh, that’s just a special stitch for this pattern! It stands for “beginning cluster.” The pattern notes explain how to make it… basically, you’ll crochet a few stitches but leave the last loop of each on your hook before yarning over and pulling through all the loops at once. Easy peasy!
