Frequently Asked Questions

Is mosaic crochet really that hard?

Honestly… no! It looks super intricate, but it’s actually way easier than it looks. This pattern is a great way to jump into mosaic crochet and see just how simple it can be to create those amazing designs.

What supplies do I need for this mosaic crochet square?

So here’s the thing… you’ll need three colors of Red Heart With Love yarn and a J/6mm crochet hook. That’s it! We’ve got all the details on materials right at the top of the post.

Can I really carry the yarn up the side?

Yes! The pattern notes have a great little tip about carrying the yarn up the side of the square. It helps keep things neat, and then you can work the edging around those floats to hide them even more.

I’m a bit intimidated by the chart… what’s the best way to approach it?

Don’t you worry… the chart is definitely helpful, but there’s also a video tutorial! While the video is for a different project, it uses the same mosaic pattern, so you can follow along with that for the mosaic sections after you get started and finished with the written pattern.

What size will this square be when it’s finished?

Once you’re all done and have blocked your square, it should measure about 12 inches by 12 inches. Just give it a good pin and a little steam, and it’ll be perfect!
