Wire Crochet the Easy Way

Wire Crochet is a great way to use your skills of crochet in a whole new way. Using the Invisible Spool Knitting method will change the way that you look at wire and a crochet hook. Today on the Yarn Thing Podcast I have the inventor behind ISK, Yael of YoolDesign.

About YoolaDesign:

YoolaDesign is an enchanting world of jewelry made in wire crochet. Yael Falk, the designer behind YoolaDesign, has created this unique system and tools to create beautiful wire work.

“Less is more” is Yael’s main design concept. She uses thin, delicate wires to create clean, geometric jewelry. The work is done in a rare technique using a tiny crochet hook and nothing but her bare hands. Because Yael knew that working the technique with only your hands took time to master she invented the ISK tool to help us all get started and create.

After learning the basic technique a couple of years ago Yael has been developing unique patterns and designs based on the technique ever since. Over on the YoolaDesign website you can purchased finished items, made by Yael, or you can get a kit to make your own wire crochet jewelry.

By education Yael is an industrial designer with experience in the field of product development. The wire work started as a hobby while living abroad, but has widely developed, and now became her main occupation.

I’m a very early stage beginner, but after two “iffy” afghans, and I’m absolutely delighted, and just I just keep looking for new things to learn, which is why I appreciate the podcast–usually can’t make it live, but so far I totally believe that “crochet for a better world” is absolutely true–at least it’s making my world brighter and more beautiful, even if my technique need work!
