Babies, babies and more babies! All around I am seeing fellow crafters with new babies or new grandbabies looking for something special to make. Red Heart has put together a great collection of baby items for you to knit or crochet. To help you work through the First Love You Baby Blanket I have put together a video tutorial.

Video Notes:

Before starting this video tutorial it is important to know that I do NOT make the whole blanket in the video. In this video you will see how to work one of the pattern repeats. To finish the pattern you will repeat the section in the video until instructed.

It has been tested to high quality standards accepted throughout the world. Red Heart Baby Hugs has been tested and certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification. This gives you the assurance that Baby Hugs is free of harmful levels of more than 300 substances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the whole baby blanket shown in the video?

Honestly, no… the video tutorial only shows how to work one of the pattern repeats. You’ll need to repeat that section until the blanket is the length you want it, following the pattern instructions.

What yarn do you recommend for this blanket?

Yes! The pattern calls for RED HEART® Baby Hugs Light yarn, and I have links to it in the materials section. It’s really nice because it’s tested for harmful substances and is made in the USA!

Can I machine wash and dry this blanket?

So here’s the thing… Red Heart Baby Hugs yarn is colorfast, which means you can totally machine wash and dry any of your handmade baby items made with it. Perfect for busy parents!

I’m a beginner knitter, can I make this blanket?

This blanket is listed as Advanced Beginner… so if you know the basics of knitting, you should be good to go! The video shows you how to do a repeat, and you can just keep repeating that until you’re done.

What else do I need besides the yarn?

Besides the yarn, you’ll need a 4.5mm (US 7) circular knitting needle that’s 36 inches long, and a yarn needle for weaving in your ends. You can find links to all of that in the materials list too!
