Crochet Cables in the Round
It’s finally time for the Classic Cable Collection CAL to begin! Last month, I shared the exciting news that I’ve teamed up with Briana K Designs, HanJan Crochet, and MJ’s Off The Hook to create a month-long CAL of beautiful crochet cable patterns. It starts this week with our first pattern, Michelle’s Celtic Weave Baskets. These use crochet cables worked in the round to create stunning texture on baskets you’ll want to use for everything. What Is The Classic Cable Collection CAL?
Each week, one of us four designers will share our pattern that’s part of the CAL. This includes the crochet pattern and a video tutorial. Plus, we’ll each pop into our respective community groups on Facebook to share tips and answer questions. Therefore, this presents the opportunity not just to learn and practice crochet cables but also to have fun in all of our different craft communities.
Week One: Crochet Cables in the Round with Michelle’s Baskets
This week we’ll dive right in with Celtic Weave Nesting Baskets from MJ’s Off The Hook Designs. We’ll use beautiful cotton Billow Yarn to create baskets in three different sizes. Use these baskets to hold a variety of different items around your home.
Additionally, they work as very special gift baskets for others. Working with two strands of Billow Yarn held together, these crochet baskets work up quickly. And yet, you get to learn or practice the technique of working crochet cables in the round.
Celtic Weave Crochet Cables in the Round
With this CAL, we’re really celebrating all of the different ways that there are to crochet cables. Many people think crochet cables aren’t as interesting as knit cables. However, that’s not true at all. There are many different ways to crochet cables, some simple and some complex. Crochet cables aren’t nearly as difficult as some beginner crocheters mistakenly believe. By joining us in this CAL, you can learn different techniques with the support of in-depth video tutorials and our CAL communities.
For this first week, you get to learn crochet cables in the round. Specifically, Michelle’s pattern uses Celtic Weave cables. As you can see, they have a beautiful criss-cross pattern that’s rich in texture. These unique cables work especially well for home decor thanks to their rich texture. These are durable baskets you can use for many different storage purposes and display ideas in your home.
