About Buffalo Wool Co:
Theresa & Ron Miskin, the owners of Buffalo Wool Company, and their family has been raising bison for almost 30 years. They are passionate about bringing you the best quality bison products.
The last ten years they have been developing a supply chain incorporating small mills, local designers, and large ranches, and along the way, it is their belief that together we can preserve one of America’s great symbols, and help bolster the U.S. economy by focusing on American Made products.
Why Bison Yarn?
It’s Soft… Bison down has a remarkable I-want-to-be-next-to-the-skin feel. This solid core smooth protein has a micron count of about 15, comparable to good cashmere. Squeeze a skein. No prickle, scratch, or itch. Just soft and cozy.
It’s Warm… Have you ever seen a buffalo in the snow? The crimpy down creates thousands of tiny air pockets all insulating you as no other fiber. Need something not quite so warm? Try one of the Buffalo Wool Company blended yarns.
It’s Lightweight. The fine down is light weight but durable. It Lasts and Lasts and Lasts From laceweight to our heavier sport yarns, they only gets softer with wear. Bison down yarns bloom a bit, creating this beautiful halo. Bison down is perfect for knitting an heirloom quality piece. But please, use your creation every chance you get. It was meant to be used.
It’s Tough… The Buffalo Wool Company’s American bison down yarns are Buffalo Tough.

About Stunning String Studio:
Cindy took up knitting again as a creative outlet when her son was born. It soothed and relaxed her, and she fell in love. Having been a clothing designer previously, it was natural for her to soon began designing her own patterns.
In 2012, after finishing a very time-consuming sample only to find the yarn had recently been discontinued, she decided she needed to go directly to the source to make sure that didn’t happen again. Cindy found a local Indie Dyer, Stunning String Studio, to work with.
Ann from Stunning String and Cindy worked closely together over the years to create colors and select yarn bases for our many Mystery Knit Alongs and our Club. Both of their businesses continued to grow.
In 2015, Ann began talking about retiring. People loved her yarn, Cindy really loved her yarn. The answer came from somewhere Cindy never really expected, her husband. He said he thought it was time for a change (he had been a traveling healthcare project manager for over 10 years) and he’d like to learn to dye yarn. So he did, working part time with Ann for several months. He loved it. His art background was being put to use and he found a real sense of calm and fulfillment.
Early in 2016, he left his job and we took over operations and ownership of the company, leaving Ann to retire and relax. Cindy and Tom setup a new 5000 square foot studio near their home in the cornfields of Northern Illinois, signed up to do several Fiber Events, and off they went.
