U.S. 10 [6 mm] 16” [40 cm] or 24” [61 cm] circular needles, and set of 5 double pointed needles or size required for gauge.

SPECIAL STITCHES
⭐ Slip, Slip, Knit (Ssk): Slip 2 stitches, one at a time, as if to knit. Insert left needle into the front of these 2 stitches and knit them together from this position – 1 stitch decreased.
⭐ Slip, Slip, Slip, Knit (Sssk): Slip 3 stitches, one at a time, as if to knit. Insert left needle into the front of these 3 stitches and knit them together from this position – 2 stitches decreased.
PATTERN STITCHES
P1 x K1 Rib
Worked in the round over an even number of sts.
Every Round: * P1, k1; repeat from * around.
Broken Rib (circular)
Worked in the round over an even number of sts.
Round 1: Knit.
Round 2: * P1, k1; repeat from * around.
Repeat the last 2 rounds for Broken Rib (circular).
Broken Rib (flat)
Worked back and forth in rows over an odd number of sts (minimum of 7 sts).
Row 1 (RS): Knit
Row 2 (WS): P2, * k1, p1; repeat from * to last st, p1.
Repeat the last 2 rounds for Broken Rib (flat).
NOTES
- Both yarns are held together and used as one for the entire piece.
- Piece is worked from the bottom up, starting in the round, then worked back and forth in rows for remainder of piece

GAME DAY 2026 KNITTING
Gauge Swatch Instructions
Hold two strands of yarn together throughout.
- Cast on 21 stitches.
- Work the swatch as follows:
- Row 1 (WS): *P1, k1; repeat from * to the end of the row.
- Row 2 (RS): Knit all stitches.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the swatch measures approximately 4 inches (10 cm) in height.
- Measure your gauge:
- Measure the width of the swatch across all 21 stitches.
- Note how many inches wide those 21 stitches measure.
- Calculate stitches per inch:
- Divide 21 stitches ÷ measured width (in inches) = stitches per inch.
Target Gauge
- 3.25 stitches per inch
13 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)If your stitch count is higher, try a larger needle.
If your stitch count is lower, try a smaller needle.

Play 1 – 9am Game Day 2026 Make-Along – Knitting
With both yarns held together, cast on 86 sts.
Join round being careful to not twist cast-on edge, and mark first st.
Work in P1 x K1 Rib for 10 rounds.
