Turkey Trot 2025 | Keystone Cable Knit Hat | Day 3
Hey there, BiCrafty Besties! Welcome to Day 3 of our Keystone Cable Knit Hat adventure in the 7th Annual Marly Bird Turkey Trot Make-Along. We’re right in the heart of the pattern now, and today is all about continuing that beautiful cable rhythm you started on Day 2.

Keeping the Cable Momentum Going (You’re Doing Great!) 🧶✨
What’s on the Agenda for Day 3?
Spoiler alert: There’s no brand-new technique today. Instead, it’s about keeping your momentum going from Day 2, letting those cables build up, and feeling that confidence grow with each repeat.
Work the number or rounds listed in the pattern and end after a round 5.
Here are a few friendly reminders to guide you along the way:
- Add a Lifeline: If you haven’t done so already, today’s a great time to slip in a lifeline. It’s like giving your future self a cozy safety net. Remember, do not thread the lifeline through your stitch markers—just the stitches.
- Track Your Rounds: Use a row counter, a notebook, or even a simple tally mark system to keep track of your rounds. This makes it so much easier to know exactly where you are in the pattern.
- Share Your Progress: Don’t be shy about sharing your work-in-progress pics! Whether it’s in our Marly’s Minions group or on social media, we love seeing your cables take shape. Tag #MarlyBirdTurkeyTrot so we can cheer you on!
Today’s Focus: Confidence & Consistency
Day 3 is all about building on the foundation you’ve set. Keep those cable repeats going, maintain even tension, and trust your process. Every round you knit adds more beauty to your hat. If you’re comfortable, you might even start to memorize the cable pattern’s rhythm.

Remember to Enjoy the Process
Knitting is as much about the journey as the destination. Take breaks, sip your favorite drink, and admire how far you’ve come. You’re doing fantastic, and that Keystone Hat is going to look absolutely fabulous.
Final Pep Talk
You’ve got this! Keep stitching away, and remember we’re all in this Turkey Trot together. Can’t wait to see how your cables grow!
