Summer is making its way to an end but that doesn’t mean that we can’t finish out with a bang. Summer projects are not only great to wear during the summer but also to work on during the summer. They are usually small projects and easy to take with you. Today we have something a little special and Katelyn will be reviewing not one but TWO summer project books. One knit and one crochet book can be found in this review.
Because we are reviewing two different books today that means that you will have TWO chances to win! Be sure to enter both of the giveaways if you like both books.
One of the things that I always struggle with is that most of the patterns that you find are more for fall and winter. I love working on sweaters and blankets but sometimes I like a quick summer project to use my pieces year round. The two books that we are going to take a look at today will show you that there are many options for knitting and crochet throughout the summer.
Super Simple Summer Tops:
Super Simple Summer Tops has six patterns with written instructions, there are no charts in this book. Melissa Leapman did a great job of creating modern pieces in a variety of styles.
Starting off in the book she shows us a v-neck top with a lace trim. This pattern and all of the others are sized from small to 3X. You will also find a longer top with a belt to create an empire waist.
Next in the book you will find the Ombre Tee, this is my favorite pattern. By working with two yarns at the same time you get this amazing ombre look. There are two more tank tops in the book along with a bell sleeve tunic.
Unlink many of the books that we have been looking at lately this is a straight pattern book. Although you won’t find a lot of detail on technique Leisure Arts does have a lot of tutorial videos on their website should you find something that you don’t know how to do.

Knits for Summer:
I didn’t want to leave the knitters out from our summer projects so we brought in the Knits for Summer book to give you some ideas as well. Knits for Summer is a collection of 10 accessories designed by Kristi Simpson.
Within the book you will find many different accessories including vest, wrap, top, barefoot sandals and more. Personally I really like the summer vest and the tunic, which could be used as a cover up.
This is a great little book with some fun summer projects that you can take with you on your next trip.
