Marc Moraca, one of the founders of Kollage Yarns, joins Marly to talk about how he and his wife, Suzy, got started in the yarn industry as well as all their awesome products. Listen in to hear all about this great US company!
Kollage currently produces 18 yarns, several of which are made out of novel materials like corn and milk. Corntastic yarn is 100% corn, a great alternative to cotton and wool. Their milk yarns include Milky Whey (50/50 milk and soy), Creamy Flame (80/20 milk and cotton), and 1/2 and 1/2 Flame (50/50 milk and wool). They also produce Riveting, a cotton yarn made out of 100% recycled blue jeans (I love this yarn)! In addition to these unique yarns, they have alpaca, silk, wool and cotton yarns. Check them out here!

Kollage doesn’t just make yarn, they also have their own line of needles called Square. These now famous needles were originally conceived as Christmas presents for their shop owners. Marc’s father took on this project and picked out several varieties of rosewood. He made the square blanks to show Marc and Suzy and Suzy decided she wanted to knit with them while they were still square. They decided to give them to the shop owners as they were and they became a big hit! Once they started producing them commercially, they started getting testimonials from users about how easy they were on their hands. The Square needles also help manage tension and produce even and uniform stitches. And as an added bonus for these needles, they are now completely made in the USA! (Look forward to Square Crochet Hooks coming back soon!) Check out these awesome needles here!
You can see Marly demonstrate Square needles in her Craftsy class Mittens and Gloves Galore!
