Turkey Trot with Marly Bird 2019 Crochet Clue #3

Let’s bring it all home! Turkey Trot with Marly Bird 2019 Crochet Clue #3 is here.

What you should know

Of course this is a Mystery Make Along project (if you want to know more you can click the link) so I am assuming that you have faith in me and my design ability and that is why you are following along. So, thank you for that.  ????

Because I know there are some sizing decisions that will need to be made along the way I will be sure to mention little extras in the pattern I think you should know before proceeding. That way, you are not totally blind to the design.

Just like on clue #2, for the Turkey Trot with Marly Bird Crochet Clue #3 I think you should know there are still only two sizes to choose from, but there is a shorter (petite) option for the largest size.

  • If you typically wear a S, M, or L then you should follow the instructions for the S-L size. This is the first number outside the parentheses.
  • If you typically wear an XL, 2XL, or 3XL then you should follow the instructions for the XL-3XL size. This is the first number inside the parentheses.
  • If you are making the XL-3XL size but need a shorter (petite) option be sure to follow a special set of instructions below.

For the Turkey Trot with Marly Bird Crochet Clue #3 I think you should know that you can try on the piece and see how it looks at this point. Clue #3 has you adding the rest of the length to the piece so you can get a pretty good idea for how long yours will be after this clue is finished. Should you wish to make your own adjustments you absolutely can do that but I will let you know I love mine the way it is 😉

Okay, time for the pattern information.

MEASUREMENTS

The instructions are written for the smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger size(s) the instructions will be written with the larger numbers inside the parentheses.

There is a special set of instructions for crocheters making the larger size but need a shorter (petite) option.

To Fit Sizes: S-L (XL-3XL)

Clue #2 and #3: The measurements are listed for each individual size to make it easier for the crocheter to know what their size measurements will be.

  • S-L Size: 28.5″ [72.5 cm] wide (folded in half), 24” [61 cm] length
  • XL-3XL Size: 37.5″ [94 cm] wide (folded in half), 35″ [89 cm] length
  • Special Shorter (petite) XL-3XL option: 34″ [86.5 cm] wide (folded in half), 24″ [61 cm] length

Gauge: 11 sts = 4″ [10 cm], CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge. *added note: the Latte Cake yarn has a good amount of stretch, so be sure to account for that stretch when you check your gauge.*

MATERIALS

Yarn: Caron Latte Cakes (8.8 oz cakes, available only at Michaels): 2 (3) balls total for project

Hook: K/6.5mm

SPECIAL STITCHES / TECHNIQUES

⭐️Stacked Double Crochet (Stacked Dc): (Do not ch 1 prior to making the first sc) Sc in first stitch, insert hook in between two legs of the base, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook.

????If you want a more visual demonstration of the stacked double crochet, watch this video starting at 3:15. I’ve linked to the video below.

NOTES

  • Clues #2 and #3 are worked back and forth in rows
  • Stitches are worked on both sides of the chain. The chain represents the shoulder seam.
  • Extra sizing note given before beginning the body of the pattern for a shorter option for the larger size.
