Chic & Strong Shawl:
One of my good friends, Rohn Strong, was wonderful enough to add a pattern to my FIRST Chic Sheep by Marly Bird collection. With the start of my new yarn line it was important to me that I had great designers, who I can also call my friends, get in on the project. Rohn is a master of crochet shawls, he wrote a book about them, and it was the perfect request for him. I knew that Rohn would really add something special to the collection and he didn’t disappoint.
Worked in two colors this simple shawl is made impressive by the border that he added. In my crochet video tutorial I walk you through each step of the pattern so that you can your own success in making this shawl. With 24 colors in the Chic Sheep collection it might take you longer to select your colors than to work up the actual shawl.
The construction of this shawl has you starting at the base of your neck and then working out the wingspan until it is the right size. Learn with me how to do the foundation double crochet start. Don’t forget your removable stitch marker for this part of the crochet video tutorial!
Along with learning how to use a foundation double crochet you will also learn how to change colors and increase with this pattern. Finishing off the shawl Rohn used a beautiful lace pattern which I will show you how to work with confidence.
About Chic Sheep:
Chic Sheep is my new yarn line with Red Heart. It is 100% washable Merino Wool and comes in 24 different colors. On Red Heart’s website you will find the entire first collection of patterns.
If you haven’t tried Chic Sheep yet hear it from Rohn how much he loved the yarn.
Marly’s new yarn line, Chic Sheep, was used for the sample and lemme tell you…this stuff is like buttah. Soft as all get out and stitch definition that’ll make you want to crochet with it again and again! The yarn lent itself to the pattern so well, and honestly, it was fun choosing colors and seeing them work so well together. Marly and her team really did a great job creating a line of coordinating solids that will work for most projects you have! It’s a solid, plump, worsted weight yarn and blocks beautifully.
