One of my good friends, Rohn Strong, was wonderful enough to add a pattern to my FIRST Chic Sheep by Marly Bird collection. With the start of my new yarn line it was important to me that I had great designers, who I can also call my friends, get in on the project. Rohn is a master of crochet shawls, he wrote a book about them, and it was the perfect request for him. I knew that Rohn would really add something special to the collection and he didn’t disappoint.

Discontinued Chic Sheep Yarn Substitutions

It’s never easy to hear that a product you’ve worked hard on and poured your heart into is being discontinued, and imagine how disappointed or even discouraged I was about this decision. However, it’s important to remember that this is a business decision that Yarnspirations has made, and it doesn’t reflect on the quality or popularity of the yarn itself.

That being said, there are certainly other wonderful alternatives available in the yarn market that can help fill the void left by the Chic Sheep line. For example, if you’re looking for a high-quality, 100% merino wool yarn, you might consider trying some of my favorites below.

Wool yarn balls in vibrant colors including teal, pink, and grey, arranged in a neat grid for a knitting project.
Swish Worsted
Burgundy Rowan Merino Aria yarn skein, made of 93% wool, ideal for cozy knitting and crochet projects.
Bright coral yarn in a skein labeled "220 Superwash Merino," made from 100% merino wool, ideal for knitting projects.
Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash Merino

If you’re looking for a yarn that has a similar feel to Chic Sheep but is a little more budget-friendly, you might consider Patons Classic Wool line. This yarn is a 100% wool and is available in a wide range of colors. It’s not as soft as Chic Sheep or machine washable, but can be a great choice for a variety of projects.

Ultimately, while it’s certainly disappointing to hear that the Chic Sheep by Marly Bird line is being discontinued, there are still many other wonderful yarns out there to choose from.
