If you Googled Deborah Norville, you’d read that she’s an American TV Journalist, has been an anchor of Inside Edition since 1995 and previously was a known as an news anchor and correspondent. One of the earliest landmarks in her career was a live interview with Jimmy Carter in 1979. What a lot of people may be surprised to learn is her connection to the world of fiber and yarn, going back to her Grandmother Norville who made and sold chenille blankets during the depression to support her family. Ann Budd brings her new book New Directions in Sock Knitting

ANN BUDD brings her book New Directions in Sock Knitting: 18 Innovative Designs Knitted from Every Which Way was today’s HOT TOPIC on the Yarn Thing podcast with Marly Bird. This was Ann’s first visit to the Yarn Thing podcast, probably because she’s such a busy individual in our world of yarn.New Directions in Sock Knitting

Ann says she has aways been crafty, learned to knit at age 12, when her family lived in Switzerland for a year. In school, divided into gender specific crafts, she learned to knit ‘by accident’ because she didn’t speak the language but enjoyed these classes. The first projects included a sweater that first year and she says the experience saved her life at that time.

A bit of trivia: Dr. Ott was approached by Walt Disney to help with time-lapse film photography, for the magic pumpkin in Cinderella, which was released in 1950. Many of us ‘met’ Clara Parkes when she was the Knitting Daily Yarn Expert, when this was taken.

Knitlandia author Clara Parkes took us with her on a journey to the Magical Land of Yarn Love on today’s episode of the Yarn Thing podcast with Marly Bird.

Clara is a THIRD Time visitor as of today, she was previously a guest in 2011 when she shared Knitter’s Book of Socks and in 2013 with The Yarn Whisperer. Knitlandia was released officially last month and has already climbed to the top of the charts, currently #1 for Knitting titles in Amazon, #5 in Travel. Clara said her first job out of college, after customer service for Macy’s Department Store, was a beginning tech version of travel writing. [Read more…]
