Lucy Neatby Knitting Expert and Instructional DVD Pioneer was the guest on the Yarn Thing podcast with Marly Bird today!
Candian Lucy called in from Nova Scotia, and she shared about her unique colored hair (thanks Marly for asking what the rest of us wonder and allow us to get to the important topic of knitting!) and her world travels while in the Navy. She says during her time in the Navy she became a self-reliant knitter, as there was no one else to consult about knitting. She started hanging out with a fleece artists who asked her to start teaching classes, starting with colorwork. They began with a 3 hour class on Fair Isle, Mosaic and Intarsia. It sounds like they realized that was overwhelming so they broke down into specific topics.
Her neighbor asked her to create a sweater that reflected his heritage which began her design career. What a career it’s become! I love Lucy’s interpretation of a happy_stitch in her Double Knitting Craftsy class. I’m a fellow Canadian knitter and love her patterns. I am very excited to hear that she has a new class coming soon!

Listening to your show as a podcast always makes my yard chores go by quicker. The first time I went to Stitches West I had a course with Lucy Neatby. Then a few years ago I traveled to outside of Houston for a class. Lucy and her happy-stitch have definitely impacted my knitting.
Every stitch is a happy-stitch. Awesome episode. I am signing up today for Lucy’s first Craftsy class.
What a GREAT interview! It made me sit down and create some happy-stitch work. I mostly a crocheter. BUT, I am learning to knit because I need to learn how to make socks.

Happy-stitch is a wonderful thing. When I can knit it is always a happy-stitch day. I enjoyed her interview and hope to meet her someday in a class she teaches. For the time being I will take a Craftsy Class.
Only tried double-knitting once, before I realized how tricky it would be fix mistakes! I would love to learn how to master it! Happy-stitch(es) to come!
Knitting helps me happy – stitch myself out of a mood or over stressed feeling should I be hit with it. Knitting can be just so relaxing. I love Craftsy and usually have a long wish list I add to while I wait for their sales. I will need to add Lucy’s new one to my list.

I loved the interview with Lucy, and I love Lucy. I have most of her DvDs and love her instruction style. I’ve taken one class from her and she did talk about and draw her happy-stitch.

Lucy is a great teacher. I own her 2 DVDs of sock knitting techniques and have learned so much from them. I also have a copy of her Cool Socks book which she signed for me with a happy-stitch!
