Also, follow the instructions for the following rounds two rounds below the current round and around the chains of the previous round when possible.
Round 9a: Ch 2, *dc in the dc 3 rounds below, ch 3, skip 2 dc, dc in the dc 2 rounds below, ch 3, skip 2 dc, dc in the dc 3 rounds below, dc in next 3 dc 2 rounds below; repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first dc.
Round 9b: Ch 5, skip next dc, skip next dc 2 rows below, *dc in next dc 2 rounds below, FPDC around next dc, dc in next dc 2 rounds below**, ch 8, skip 7 sts (1 dc 2 rounds below, 5 dc on previous round, 1 dc 2 rounds below); repeat from * around ending at **, ch 5, skip 5 sts. Join with a slip stitch to the 2nd chain of beginning chain.
