The Hook Nook on the Yarn Thing Podcast

Pivoting to find what is right for you can usually lead you to find your happiness. Join me on the Yarn Thing Podcast for a special episode with Jessica Carey of The Hook Nook to learn about her journey. Starting out as a maker, to starting her own business to creating physical products Jessica has found what she loves and has pursued it.

About Jessica

Jessica Carey, of The Hook Nook, has taken her passion for crochet as well as her journey in self-growth and turned it into a community to help people of all generations feel a sense of self-worth as she helps them navigate the intricacies of fiber arts while also blossoming into their true self. The Hook Nook has become a haven for makers of all skill levels to build their confidences in themselves as well as share in uplifting and inspiring others with their own stories.

Jessica from The Hook Nook

Jessica began crocheting just so she could make her daughter some items she could keep as she got older. It meant a lot to Jessica to be able to give her such meaningful gifts in hopes she would appreciate them. As things progressed, Jessica found myself selling her makes to friends and family and soon after that, opened an Etsy shop in 2012.

THN Designer Interchangeable Crochet Hook Set

After a rollercoaster of successes and failures and feeling burnt out, Jessica chose to cease selling finished items in January of 2016 and began dabbling in the world of pattern design. After many successful (and not-so-successful) designs, Jessica chose to switch things up a bit.

So the story of The Hook Nook collection started. Learn more about this journey in this episode of the Yarn Thing Podcast.

Great to meet you, Jessica, on Marly Bird’s Yarn Thing Podcast. I have 2 favorite colorways that jumped out at me, so here they are: Your Main Squeeze Pinto Noir and your Ginormous In Shadows. Looking forward to getting your book. Crocheting is my happy place!

I love to crochet. I do refer to my “crochet time” as my “Crochet Zen” time and relaxation. I will crochet for hours before I know it. When in the zone ALL of reality/what ever is going on around me is 100% blocked from my seeing or hearing. I really like more than several of the colors which are Blue Steel, Pinot Noir, Tattoo Ink and Peacock Feathers.
