Hygge Mini Candy Basket Materials:

Hygge Mini Candy Basket Gauge:

GAUGE: 8 sts = 4″ [10 cm]; 9½ rounds = 4″ [10 cm] in single crochet with 3 strands of yarn held together. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Although this is not an item you will wear and gauge is not a crucial element you will still want to check your gauge to the pattern. The overall fabric of the basket is to be tight and somewhat stiff (so it stands up). If you are getting a bigger gauge than what is indicated in the pattern you should use a smaller hook.

Pattern Notes:

  • Original color block basket pattern can be found here
  • Basket is worked in joined rounds, beginning at the center of the base.
  • Three strands are held together throughout.
  • To change yarn color, working joining slip stitch as follows: Insert hook in first sc, yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook. Proceed with new color. Cut old color, leaving a long tail to weave in later.

Abbreviations:

A and B= Color A and Color B;
ch= chain;
sc= single crochet;
st(s)=stitch(es);
[ ] = work directions in brackets the number of times specified.

    Thanks, this is fabulous, and what a great way to show how to modify things to fit the need. Sorry your hand is hurting, hope it is better soon, to many things to do and not just yarn things. Thanks again.

  2. Lee says:

    I’m making the large basket now, and am on row 8 of the sides, and unless I’m missing something no way does it measure 42 Inches around like the pattern States.

  3. Lee says:

    4 weight yarn, 6.5 hook, 3 strands, counted every stitch on every row.
    The gauge for 8 stitches is 2 1/2 Inches, can’t be that I’m crocheting too tight or it would be buckling.
