Sliced Apple Scrubby:
Below you will find the YouTube tutorial that I created for the pattern. You will notice in the video that I used Red Heart with Love for the sample. I did this so that you could see the stitches better. You will notice that the Scrubby yarn does not have definition to the stitches. This is great to hide any small mistakes that you may make but it isn’t the best for showing you how to make the piece.
The Sliced Apple Scrubby is made from Scrubby yarn but you could change the yarn that you use to turn the pattern into an applique for another project. In my post about the Playful Penguin Baby Blanket we talked about changing out the applique to match the recipient of the blanket. The Playful Penguin Baby Blanket is another FREE pattern on Red Heart’s website.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use different yarn for this apple scrubby?
Honestly… yes! While the pattern calls for Scrubby yarn, you can totally use other yarns if you want to make it an applique for something else. Just remember that Scrubby yarn is great for hiding little mistakes because it doesn’t show stitch definition well!
What yarn did you use in the video?
So here’s the thing… in the video, I actually used Red Heart with Love yarn. I did that so you could see the stitches nice and clearly. The Scrubby yarn itself doesn’t show the stitch definition as well, but it’s perfect for a scrubby!
Is this a free pattern?
Yes! This Sliced Apple Scrubby pattern is a free pattern from Red Heart as part of their 7 Months of Scrubby campaign. You can find the link to it in the blog post!
What is the 7 Months of Scrubby campaign?
Oh, it’s a fun campaign Red Heart is running where they release a new theme of FREE Scrubby patterns each month. April’s theme was fruit, which is where this cute apple scrubby comes in!
How long does it take to make this scrubby?
The page doesn’t mention how long it takes to make, but it is a beginner-friendly pattern, so I bet you could whip one up pretty quickly!
