What to gift in your jar

Your ears might have perked up when you hear about the great idea of doing a crochet mason jar cover for a gift, but you might be asking “well, what do I put inside?” and we have some suggestions for you.

Non-Food Ideas

If you are gifting to teachers you could fill your jar with school supplies to help replenish their class room. This is a great idea if you don’t really know what they like but want to give something.

Fill the jar with a spa theme. Add a nail polish, file, lotion and top coat for a great little spa day at home. Include a towel, chapstick, nail clipper or even a piece of chocolate.

Try making a DIY sugar scrub. This is another great way to give the spa feel to your recipient. As they use your scrub throughout the year they will be thinking of you!

Run to your favorite craft store and pick up a candle making kit. Fill the mason jar with a homemade candle. Don’t want to make your own, this is a great use for the bag project below that you will find.

Don’t want to make a candle but want to give them something that smells great? Try out some DIY potpourri. This is a simple quick way to fill the jar with something special.

Food Ideas

Think about filling the jar with your, or their, favorite candy. Hershey Kisses and M&Ms make a great filler.

Check on Pinterest to find some great ‘recipes’ to add to your jar. You will find directions for adding the dry ingredients for soups or baked goods to your jar. Print out the directions and list of wet ingredients still needed for a quick dessert or lunch.

Make a Chex mix or other trail mix to add to the jar. This is great for co-workers or teachers so that they have a little snack at their desk when they get hungry.
