Carefree Crochet-Big Hooks, Fluffy Yarn, Unique Texture, Great Results

Another wonderful book has crossed our desk and we wanted to share it with you. Once you check out the patterns in this book I think it will be making its way onto your wish list. This book includes 50 patterns that will make you feel good. Take a look with Katelyn at Carefree Crochet.

Inside the Book:

When you open the cover of the book your eyes are given a treat! Inside the front cover they have put a photo of a collection of the projects in the book. They look so beautiful and squishy that I want one of each of them! Working my way through the book I was NOT disappointed in the projects that May, the author, had included.Book Review of Carefree Crochet

The premise behind the book is that you can start with small projects to learn how to work the stitch pattern and what a yarn will work up like. Once you have that information you can move on to larger projects that use the same things. At the start of the book you will find some smaller project. Included at the start of the book you will find hats, pillows, fingerless mitts and boot cuffs. Working through the book the project sizes increase as well as some of the textures and complication of patterns.

Book Review of Carefree CrochetEach of these projects really uses the yarn to make a beautiful piece. May uses dynamic open work in her patterns and really plays with the yarn weight to create stunning pieces. My favorite of the book is the Striped Jacket. When I first saw this I started to image which colors of Chic Sheep I would pick up to make my own version! Within the book you will find a variety of patterns for each season of the year. There are some jackets and also some vests and light tops. With so many options you  might have a hard time picking which one to start with.

I was 11 when my mom first showed me how to crochet a granny square. My first and only project then was a tan and white granny square. I lost interest. Over 34 years later when I was going through a stressful time I rediscovered crochet. I love it and knitting!!! I wish that I would have never stopped!!!!

I was 12 when my cousin agreed to teach me to crochet and knit. I am left handed and she is right handed, so I would sit in front of her and mirror what she did. I took myself to the library and borrowed books to better develop my skills. Eventually, I learned how to knit well with both hands however, I never got the hang of crocheting with my right hand. It would be great to be more carefree with my crochet.

My mother taught me when I was 10 years old but didn’t start knitting until I was 50 after I retired. I couldn’t believe how much came back to me when I took a beginning knitting class. I been knitting or crocheting every day since.

I tried knitting and crocheting when I was younger but didn’t stick with it. Now, at 63, I’ve started crocheting and love it! I’ll try knitting again, soon.

I was so young I don’t know but I made miles and miles of chains. At about nine my aunt showed me how to make slip stitches and single crochet. What a wonderful ride I have been on ever since.

I didn’t learn to crochet until I was almost 48 years old! My mother knew how, but she was right handed and couldn’t figure out how to teach a lefty like me. Many years later, when my stepdaughter was starting to learn, I learned from a book which had instructions for those who are left handed.

I have this book and I need help! I love that black poncho but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put it together! The pattern is simple and says work back and forth and make a huge rectangle and then all it says is fold in half and sew 11in down from the fold? How does a rectangle turn into a poncho? I need a picture or chart or something, any help would be appreciated!

Can you figure out the black poncho? I love this one but I can’t tell from the photos or the instructions, how do you crochet basically a rectangle and then fold it in half to make a poncho? If you could explain this I really want to make it but I have no idea how it should be put together!
