No Stopping Me Now Shawl Crochet Chart

The No Stopping Me Now Shawl Crochet Chart is something I’ve wanted to offer those of you who are interested in making the wonderful No Stopping Me Now Shawl that I designed as a free pattern giveaway at the Marly Bird Meet and Greet while attending the Knit and Crochet Show, 2015.

If you remember, I wanted to use a yarn that I love working with in two color-ways that I just KNEW would look great together. After playing around with several stitch patterns I finally decided to use a pattern that I absolutely love. Lo and behold, you can now see the ‘No Stopping Me Now’ ShawlNo Stopping Me Now Shawl, Free Crochet Pattern with Chart

Boutique Unforgettable**Disclaimer: this post contains affiliate links**

This shawl is super fun, super simple and super addictive! It begins at the center top and increases are worked at the beginning, middle and end to make this fantastic triangle shawl. Using Red Heart, “Boutique Unforgettable” yarn in Bistro and Winery (don’t those names just make your mouth salivate?) I changed colors every two rows making unique.

1 MONTH FREEUsing this long color changing yarn and changing colors every two rows really makes the crocheter eager to get to the next repeat to see how the colors will look in the final piece! I’m not lying when I tell you that making this free crochet shawl is addictive.

The finished sample didn’t use the full two balls of yarn so you could make it larger without any problem. You simple continue in pattern until you run out of yarn…but make sure you finish on a row 2 of the pattern. That’s why I named it the No Stopping Me Now‘ shawl because you just don’t want to stop!

NoStoppingMeNow_5aShawl Chart

The pattern has been a big hit but nearly everyday I get asked if there is a chart available. The good news is that I did pay for my tech editor to make a chart for me AND I’ve done a video to show you how to read it!

To sum it all up, if you are interested in the links, go get the pattern here, then get the chart here, and watch the video here. All that is left after that is to crochet this fun shawl until you run out of yarn!

I hope you enjoy No Stopping Me Now free crochet shawl pattern and now with a CHART! It was super fun to crochet – and fast too! I love when the yarn does half the work for me as it does in this pattern, with just one skein of each color you get a truly unique shawl.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the No Stopping Me Now Shawl Crochet Chart?

This is a companion post to Marly Bird’s free “No Stopping Me Now” crochet shawl pattern, providing a visual stitch diagram (chart) for the pattern. Some crafters learn much better from visual charts than from written row-by-row instructions… the chart shows exactly where stitches go in a graphical format. Marly specifically created this chart because she heard from her audience that they wanted a visual representation of the stitch pattern. It’s the same pattern, just delivered in a different format to serve visual learners.

How do I read a crochet stitch diagram?

Each symbol in the diagram represents a specific stitch or technique. A horizontal line is a chain. A dot or x is a slip stitch. A small oval or + is a single crochet. A taller symbol with crossbars is a double crochet. The diagram shows how stitches are placed relative to each other… where they connect, how they build on previous rows, and how the overall pattern forms. Most diagrams include a legend/key showing what each symbol means. Work from the bottom up and from right to left on odd rows (or follow the arrows if provided).

Why do some crafters prefer charts to written instructions?

Charts show the spatial relationship between stitches in a way that written instructions can’t fully convey. For visual thinkers, seeing WHERE a stitch goes (literally positioned in the diagram relative to other stitches) makes the pattern immediately logical in a way that written “insert hook in third chain from hook” instructions can feel abstract. Charts are also universal… a Japanese crocheter and an English crocheter can both follow the same chart despite language differences. Once you learn to read charts, they often feel faster and more intuitive than written instructions for complex patterns.

Can I use the chart alongside the written pattern?

Absolutely! Many crafters use both… checking the chart to understand the spatial layout while following the written instructions for precise stitch counts and specific technique notes. The chart shows the “what goes where” and the written pattern fills in the “exactly how many.” Using both together is often the most efficient approach for complex stitch patterns. Having both resources available means you can switch between them as needed… use written instructions while learning the repeat, then reference the chart when the written instructions get confusing.

Is the No Stopping Me Now Shawl chart free?

Yes! Both the written pattern and the chart are free on Marly’s blog. If you prefer a clean, ad-free printable version you can mark up and take with you to your knitting group or couch, an ad-free PDF is available for purchase at a small fee. But the full pattern AND the chart are accessible for free to anyone who visits the blog. Marly is genuinely committed to providing free patterns with multiple learning formats to serve her community’s different learning styles.

Tips for Success with Your No Stopping Me Now Shawl

Okay bestie, let me share what I’ve learned from making this beauty myself and from hearing from YOU about your projects…

Before You Start

  • Yarn choice matters: Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable is magic here because the color changes do the visual work for you. If you’re substituting yarn, choose a worsted weight with good drape… a yarn that wants to flow down your shoulders naturally.
  • Hook sizing: I used a 5.5mm (I/9) hook with the Boutique yarn. If your tension runs tight, bump up to a 6mm (J/10) so your shawl has that gorgeous fabric movement.
  • Count your chains: Foundation chains are everything in shawls. Double-check that cast-on… I know it’s tempting to jump right in, but trust me on this one!

Pattern-Reading Pro Tips

  • Watch the video tutorial I made… seriously. Charts can feel intimidating at first, but once you see me reading it in real time, it clicks!
  • Use stitch markers at your three increase points every single row. This prevents those “wait, where am I?” moments.
  • If you’re new to shawl construction, check out my guide on triangle shawl fundamentals for extra confidence.

You’ve got this, and your shawl is going to be absolutely stunning!
