Crochet Cables and Lace Shell Stitch Pattern
As seen in the Free Crochet One Skein Soft Essentials Cowl, the Crochet Cables and Lace Shells Stitch Pattern is one that is beautiful and easy to memorize.
The cowl pattern is written in the round but some of you have requested that I offer instructions to be worked flat as well. Because I know exactly what it is like to fall in love with a stitch pattern and wanting to use it in something else, I will certainly offer you the free crochet cables and lace shells stitch pattern to be worked flat.
Just as the Soft Essentials Cowl pattern (see image), the stitch pattern uses the post stitches to create its texture and next to the delicate lace shell stitch. This is a great stitch for many projects and one that I loved to use with the new yarn on the market exclusive to Michaels, Red Heart Soft Essentials Stripes. This yarn is part of the Soft Yarn family but now in BULKY weight!

Repeat rows 1 and 2 to desired length ending on a row 1
Designer note: just want to point out that the last row for working this stitch pattern flat should be a row 1 (WS), but if you are making the cowl in the round you will notice that I have you end on a cable row. The cowl ends that way because I was using up only one skein of yarn and needed to make sure I didn’t break into a new ball by working one more row.
Final Row to even up the height of the stitches (RS): Ch 3 (counts as a Dc), Dc in space between tch and first Dc of shell, hdc in next ch-1 space, sc in next ch-1 space, hdc in next ch-1 space, dc in space between last dc of shell and next post stitch, * FPtc in 4 post stitches, dc in space between last FPdc and first dc of shell, hdc in next ch-1 sp, sc in next ch-1 sp, hdc in next ch-1 sp, hdc in space between the two shells, hdc in next ch-1 sp, sc in next ch-1 sp, hdc in next ch-1 sp, dc in space between the last dc of the shell and the first FPdc of next repeat; rep from * to last 4 post stitches,FPtc in 4 post stitches, dc in space between last FPdc and first dc of shell, hdc in next ch-1 sp, sc in next ch-1 sp, hdc in next ch-1 sp, dc in space between the last dc of the shell and the TCH, Dc in top of Tch.
