Dual Cable Knit Fingerless Gloves Pattern
Have you ever seen my dual cable knit fingerless gloves pattern? There is so much that I love about this design. The cables are really fun to knit. More than that, they have a unique style that I think makes them really fun to wear. They are cozy, but functional, and stylish but with that handmade twist. I hope you’re going to like them as much as I do.
Fair Isle Cables
I wanted to do something special with the cable techniques in this fingerless mitts pattern. Immediately, I began thinking about a Fair Isle cable pattern. I combined two different colors here to get a unique effect. I just love the almost yin/yang style of the way that the two complementary colors cable around each other. It’s a very natural, organic shape. It hints of balance among polarities, the idea that opposites attract, the way we all have a little bit of this and a little bit of that in each of us.
About This Cable Knit Fingerless Gloves Pattern
Here are some things that you might like to know about this pattern:
- This is a teen or adult size knit hat pattern.
- It’s a very versatile, unisex design.
- The dual cables make up the arm of the gloves pattern.
- You’ll use simpler stitches for the hand these fingerless gloves, adding textured detail right near the fingers.
- This is a more advanced knit mitts pattern.
If you’re looking for an advanced cable knit pattern that will push your skills a little bit, then this is a good pattern for you to try. These gloves make a beautiful gift for someone, too!
Choosing Yarn For This Pattern
I was originally inspired to create this sophisticated design using the Bijou Spun by Bijou Basin Ranch Himalayan Trail yarn. It’s a lovely yak/merino blend yarn in sport weight. Unfortunately, this yarn was discontinued, so unless you have some in your stash, you’ll have to find a substitute. I haven’t found one with exactly that blend, yet. However, Expression Fiber Arts has a 50/50 yak merino blend in this weight. Etsy’s Bluewater Yarns also often has good yak yarn blends that could work.

Matching Dual Cable Knit Hat and Scarf Pattern
I love creating matching sets of crochet and knit patterns. When you have a unique design, you just want to make it into as many things as possible. So, it’s no surprise that I wanted to use the dual cable knit technique on something else, in this case a hat pattern and also a scarf pattern.
More than that, it really brings a sense of style together when you have three matching accessories that you can wear like this. Of course, you can also use them as separates. Here’s the dual cable knit hat pattern that matches the fingerless gloves. And here’s the dual cable knit scarf pattern.
