Comfy and Convenient! Crochet Ruana Pattern with Pockets

Did you love the 2020 Turkey Trot Make-along? If so, then you’ll also love this crochet ruana pattern. It uses the same stitch pattern as the crochet pocket shawl with pockets that we made during the Turkey Trot. But it’s a ruana, which is what the knitters made during that make-along. It’s the best of both worlds and I’m excited to have this new pattern coming out for you soon.

Such a Fun Stitch Pattern

I really loved the stitch pattern that we used for the crochet pocket shawl pattern that made up the CAL half of the 2020 Turkey Trot Stitch-along. I have wanted to use it again on something. And why not use it to make a crochet ruana pattern?

I want to make sure that you have all of the information that you’ll need to make this crochet stitch pattern. Therefore, in addition to the pattern itself, which is coming out in the next week or so, I’ll also give you a new video tutorial showing exactly how to make the stitch.

A Crochet Twist on a Knit Ruana Design

I love doing bicrafty make-alongs that bring both the crochet and knit communities together for one stitch-along. Sometimes the crocheters and knitters make nearly identical projects using their respective crafts. Other times, there’s a slight difference between the two projects. In this case, we made a crochet pocket shawl and a knit ruana.

There’s a place in your closet for each of those items. As a crocheter, you might have wished that you got the ruana design, too. I wanted that for you as well, so here it is!

This crochet ruana pattern gives you the coziness of a warm wrap with the convenience of big pockets. Who doesn’t love extra pockets to help you carry all of the things that you need?

The short sleeves make it a very versatile wrap. After all, you can layer it over just about any outfit to get the warmth you need depending on the season.

And can we talk about this color? When I posted the teaser photos on social media this week, so many people responded that it’s such a great color on me. THANK YOU. A fun fact about this color: I almost never wear this color or a certain shade of red. Those were my high school colors and I think I just got sick of them. But enough time has passed and now I’ve noticed that it’s a really great color right?

It’s a color that looks good on a lot of different people. Of course, you can always opt for a different color of the same yarn, but I think many different people will enjoy adding this bold green to their wardrobe.
