Crochet Inspiration:

Inside the covers of The Art of Crochet Blankets you will find 18 amazing crochet blanket patterns. Although this may look like a regular crochet pattern book you might be surprised to hear where the inspiration comes from.

Rachele uses other art mediums as her inspiration for the patterns in this book. She looks at weaving, digital art, screen-printing, quilting and paper crafts. Each chapter of the book looks at a different artist and art form to draw inspiration for the patterns within.

Paging through the book you can really see how all art is connected. You can see how the blocking method of quilting inspired a motif blanket. On another page you will see how floor tiles were the inspiration for a honeycomb crochet blanket.

Through this book you will explore the idea of where inspiration comes from. You will see that you can use other artists work as inspiration without copying what they are doing. Even if you aren’t into the art aspect of the book you will be hooked on the beautiful patterns.

Patterns in the Book:

There are 18 colorful patterns in this book which include written and charted instructions. For almost all of the patterns you will also find a schematic.

Although you typically don’t have a schematic for blanket patterns this is your map for how to lay out your pieces if you want it to look like the image. Don’t be afraid to let this be a jumping off point and make the blanket your own.

Where else in nature and art can you pull crochet inspiration from? How will you improvise on your next crochet project?

I love Marley’s designs but I positively hate this site. The ads, the pop ups, the videos that load and run on their own, patterns I can’t get on PDF. Make it easier for us to recreate your patterns please. I start with “Oh Goody Marley designs to check out!” And end with “Geeze I could not be more frustrated…”
