Knitting Turkey Trot 2020 – Day 5
It’s okay if you are not ready for this part yet. Even with a catch up day for day 4 many knitters are not ready for this step. So, I made a decision about Turkey Trot – Knitting – 2020 – Day 5 (and 6, 7, 8, 9)! Read more below.
UPDATE ABOUT MORE TIME: What if you fall behind?
No Worries! We know that not everybody works at the same speed. And LORD KNOWS the crocheters are going to be faster than the knitters!
If you fall behind, that is absolutely okay. Just work until you are ready for the next clue and go get it. The clue will just be there waiting for you.
ETA: So, here we are day 5 and as far as I can tell from posts online, only 3 knitters are ready for these instructions today! Seeing that gave me an idea to ask the knitters in the Marly’s Minions group if they would appreciate an added few days to the whole event to make it a bit easier.
The result was a resounding YES!!! You can see the post here: https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=10158642077683654&set=gm.983703602151939 Anyway, I see you, I hear you, and I am HERE for you.
I’ve decided the knitters definitely need at least 3 more days to get the clues. So, I’m giving a clue for days 5 and 6, added day 7 will be a work day, added days 8 and 9 will be more clues. Hopefully that makes all of you happy, I know it does me.
This piece is really beautiful, you will be so proud of yourself when you are finished. I really believe you are going to love it. I really hope you feel the same.
Where to post questions and progress pictures?
In the Marly’s Minions Group on Facebook (if you haven’t joined yet, do that now >> click here << ) there will be a dedicated thread for each day. I pin those threads in ANNOUNCEMENTS so you can easily find them.
POST YOUR QUESTIONS IN THE APPROPRIATE THREAD FOR THE DAYS CLUE YOU ARE WORKING ON!
This is very important. The testers will be checking these threads to help answer questions and it really helps them if we keep the questions for each day in the appropriate thread. I hope that makes sense. Also, the testers can be easily identified by their fb image. Each one is using a picture like this:
WE LOVE TO SEE YOUR PROGRESS!
As you finish the clue for each day (no matter if it is 3 days later) post a picture of your progress in the progress thread for the day you are working on. It really inspires all of us. Plus, it is fun to see all the different yarns getting used!
Okay, now here is your clue
Below, you will find everything you should need for this Knitting Turkey Trot 2020 – Day 5 Clue!
???? Good Luck ????

- For a tall smaller size follow the stitch count for the smaller size but the row count for the larger size.
- Work both fronts at the same time using separate needles and yarn to ensure matching sides.
- Add life lines as you work along.
- Circular needles are recommended to accommodate large number of sts. Do not join; work back and forth in rows.
VIDEO TUTORIAL
Marly will be doing a LIVE ZOOM ON THE MARLY BIRD YOUTUBE CHANNEL to show how to join the fronts to create the back. The zoom is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm ET.
The feedback from yesterday’s LIVE DEMONSTRATION was wonderful so I am going to do it again. I figured doing it at 7:00 pm ET would give some of you time to catch up a little. Maybe even with just one of the sides by then 🙂 Really, I am trying to think of you!

⭐️YOU MADE IT TO THIS POINT. Yes, this is A LOT OF KNITTING! But that is why you are getting three extra days. This piece is absolutely beautiful and I wanted you to have something absolutely beautiful! I did NOT sacrifice beauty for time on this piece. Like I’ve been saying, I decided that knitters, even though generally slower than crocheters (that is just the nature of the two crafts), deserve an equally BEAUTIFUL piece, and believe me, this is just stunning!
So stick with it and know that it doesn’t matter when you finish, just as long as you do. See you tomorrow! >> click here to go back to main page <<
