GAME DAY NOTES

  • Make as many or as few charms as you desire for your project.
  • Each clue in the mystery make-along will be a different charm.
  • You do not have to make all the charms to have a complete project. The different charms are to offer you lots of choices and options to make something that you love. Whether that is multiples of 1 charm, 1 of a couple of different charms, or just 1 charm total.  Any way you decide to craft with us is perfect!
  • If you are new to thread crochet, be patient with yourself.  It takes a bit of time to get used to such tiny hooks.  Make sure to relax your tension when chaining, or go up a hook if adjusting your tension doesn’t work. All ends and edges will be covered, and blocking will transform all the charms that need any extra love.  Be kind to yourself, you got this!

CHARM #5: PLANETS

CHARM NOTES

  • Directions are written for a planet charm with as many or as few orbiting moons as you wish.
  • Change color whenever you desire.  You do not have to change colors as written if you want to do something else.
  • Stiffening this charm is optional.
  • A beaded option is not written.  If you wish to add seed beads, make sure to string your beads before you start crocheting.  Then after any Round 2, turn your work.  On Round 3, slide a bead before you ch 1, following the same directions as written.  You can add a bead at every ch 1, or every other, or any combination you wish.

INNER CORE

Round 1 (RS): Ch 8, sl st to first ch, [ch 8, sl st to sl st] 3 times, do not turn – 4 ch-8 sps.  Note: This round created a thick ring that we will work around in the next round.  If you would rather work around a thick piece of cording that will work as well.

Round 2: Ch 1, 16 sc around ring (working around all 4 ch-8 sps at the same time), sl st to first sc, do not turn — 16 sc.

Round 3: *Ch 1, sl st in next sc; repeat from * around, fasten off.  Weave in ends.

CENTRAL MANTLE

Round 1 (RS): Join new color to any ch-1 sp on Inner Core with sl st. [Ch 20, sl st to sl st] 4 times, do not turn – 4 ch-20 sps.

Round 2: Ch 1, 17 sc around ring (working around all 4 ch-20 sps at the same time), skip 7 ch-1 sps on Inner Core from join, sc around ring and into next ch-1 sp (this joins the central mantel to the inner core), 17 sc around ring, sc around ring and into same ch-1 sp as join, sl st to first sc, do not turn — 36 sc.

Round 3: *Ch 1, sl st in next sc; repeat from * around, fasten off.  Weave in ends

OUTER CRUST

Round 1 (RS): Join new color to any ch-1 sp on Central Mantel with sl st. [Ch 32, sl st to sl st] 3 times, do not turn – 3 ch-32 sps.

Round 2: Ch 1, 25 sc around ring (working around all 3 ch-32 sps at the same time), skip 17 ch-1 sps on Central Mantle from join, sc around ring and into next ch-1 sp (this joins the central mantel to the inner core), 25 sc around ring, sc around ring and into same ch-1 sp as join, sl st to first sc, do not turn — 52 sc.

Round 3: *Ch 1, sl st in next sc; repeat from * around, fasten off.  Weave in ends

ORBITING MOONS

Note: Make as many as you wish.  Adding 1 makes a great pendant.  Adding 2 is nice for symmetry.  Nothing wrong with none at all.

Round 1 (RS): Ch 12, sl st to first ch, [ch 12, sl st to sl st] twice, do not turn – 3 ch-12 sps.

Round 2: Ch 1, 24 sc around ring (working around all 3 ch-12 sps at the same time), sl st to first sc, do not turn — 24 sc.

Round 3: *Ch 1, sl st in next sc; repeat from * around to last sc, sl st to last sc and any ch-1 sp on Outer Crust at same time to join, fasten off with long tail.  Use tail to secure Orbiting moon to outer crust, then weave in ends.

????Remember????The next clue will be released at 6pm EST.
