I introduce to you the Chic Sheep Day Dream Blanket-FREE Crochet Chic Sheep Blanket using Chic Sheep by Marly Bird™. After receiving so much love for the Chic Sheep Dream Blanket I knew that I needed to design something for the crochet lovers. Because the first Chic Sheep Blanket used all 24 colors of the Chic Sheep line I had my work cut out for me to make the perfect counter part.

Now that I have my dream I wanted to make your crochet dreams come true with this beautiful corner-2-corner heirloom blanket. Chic Sheep by Marly Bird™ is 100% Merino Wool. This means that it is machine washable and dryer safe! Not only is it easy to maintain but it is an absolute dream to use in accessories and garments. Having this yearn snuggled up against your skin feels so good. Using this yarn to make a blanket was a no brainer.

  • Blanket is worked in a diagonal from corner to corner.
  • All right side (odd numbered rows) are worked from top right to bottom left, and all wrong side (even numbered rows) are worked from bottom left to top right.
  • Change colors on the last yarn-over of the last st of the square to the next color indicated by chart.
  • There will be many yarn ends to weave in; you may want to weave some in as you go.

With A, ch 6.

Row 1 (RS): Sk 3 ch, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each of 2 remaining ch, turn – 1 square made.

Row 2 (WS): Ch 6, sk 3 ch, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each of next 2 ch, change to B, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in ch-3 sp of Row 1, turn – 2 squares.

Rows 3-42: Ch 6, sk 3 ch, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each of next 2ch, (sc, ch 3, 3dc) in each ch-3 sp of previous row changing colors as indicated by chart, turn – 42 squares.

Row 43: Slip st in each of first 4 sts, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in each ch-3 sp of previous row changing colors as indicated by chart, including last sp, turn – 42 squares.

Row 44: Ch 6, sk 3 ch, dc in 4th ch from hook and in each of next 2 ch, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in each ch-3 sp to last sp changing colors as indicated by chart, sc in last sp, turn – 42 squares.

Rows 45-52: Rep Rows 43 and 44 4 more times.

Row 53: Slip st in each of first 4 sts, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in each ch3 sp of previous row to last sp changing colors as indicated by chart, sc in last sp, turn –41 squares.

Rows 54-93: Rep Row 53, changing colors as indicated by chart-1 square at end of Row 93. Fasten off.

Blanket Border

Using yarn leftovers and changing colors as desired, work border as follows:

With RS facing, join yarn with sl st anywhere along perimeter.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, hdc evenly around, working 3 hdc in each corner st or sp, join with sl st in first hdc.

Rnds 2-9: Ch 1, hdc in camel st (horizontal strand just below back loop of each st around, working 3 hdc in camel st of each corner st, join with sl st in first hdc. Fasten off.

Finishing

Lightly block to measurements. Weave in remaining loose ends.
