Reusable Market Bags | Knit and Crochet

I have enlisted the help of the Market Bag QUEEN to celebrate Earth Day. Using our knit and crochet talents to do our part and reduce the use of plastic bags is a fun way to create. Salena Baca herself is joining me for a great Market Bag round up to get your creative juices flowing and make some great reusable bags in both knit and crochet.

Why Reusable Market Bags

According to the EPS in 2017 containers and packaging category had the most plastic tonnage at over 14 million tons. This category includes bags, sacks and wraps. What can we do as knitters and crocheters to bring that number down? Make reusable bags!

These reusable bags can be made from plarn (plastic yarn) and that does reuse plastic bags but we can also make our own bags from the start as to not use plastic bags.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I make reusable market bags?

Honestly… we can make such a difference with our crafting talents! Plastic bags are a huge part of landfill waste, and by making our own reusable bags, we can help reduce that number.

Can I make these bags with plarn?

Yes! You can totally make bags from plarn, which is plastic yarn made from upcycled plastic bags. But you can also make them from yarn from the start, which is even better for the planet.
