Baby Cakes Customized Sweater Free Pattern and Video
Such a cute little sweater isn’t it? And, I love that you can choose the colorway for your wee one as well as add a name. Watch the free video of a recorded class I taught recently on this Baby Cakes Customized Sweater free pattern. I teach you how to knit it, then customize it with embroidery!
It’s a simple knit since it’s 1 x 1 rib and stockinette stitch. Check out the color changes too. But, it’s much easier than you might think!
Custom Baby Sweater
The striped baby pullover is knit with Caron Baby Cakes yarn, available exclusively at Michaels. This worsted-weight yarn is self-striping, so there’s no changing colors as you knit the sweater. This cuts the end weaving you would have without color-changing self-striping yarn.
The sweater is knit from the top down and fits sizes 6 months to 24 months. The sleeve shaping is raglan, which is a great option for babies.
Once you’ve knit the sweater, use hand embroidery to customize it with the baby’s name.
You’ll also need:
- size US 7 (4.5 mm) circular knitting needles, 16″ long
- size US 8 (5.0 mm) circular knitting needles, 16″ long
- size US 7 (4.5 mm) double point needles
- size US 8 (5.0 mm) double point needles
- 2 stitch holders
- stitch marker
- yarn needle
