Leap Day Mystery Make-Along 11am Clue || Knitting

Time for the first ever Leap Day Mystery Make-Along 2020 with Marly Bird and Moogly. This is the 11am clue for the knit piece.

Each clue will be released every 2 hours from 9am until 5pm eastern time. You can find the link to each clue in the original blog post (click here)

MEASUREMENT DETAILS

Size: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL)

To Fit Measurement: 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 50, 54)” [71 (81, 91, 102, 112, 127, 137)cm] around chest.

Gauge: 10 sts and 14.5 rows = 4” (10cm) in Stockinette Stitch in the round.

MATERIALS

Yarn: Bernat Softee Chunky: Ball Size Solids: 100g / 3.5 oz, 99 meters / 108 yards;

  • Color A: 108 yds — All Sizes
  • Color B: 216 (324, 324, 324, 324, 432, 432) yds

Needle: Size 13 (9mm) 24” circular or longer. You might want to have a longer needle as more stitches are on your needles.

Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle

Directions are for size XS; changes for sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL are in parentheses. When only one number is given then that number applies to all sizes.

Make the marker for the start of the round noticeably different than the markers used around the rest of the piece.

Slip all markers as you come to them, even when not specifically instructed to do so in the pattern.

Marly will be going live in the Marly’s Minions group at 11:30am to show how to do the Pick Up and Knit as well as how to join to work in the round. If you have questions about those parts be sure to join her there.


11AM CLUE ????

Rotate knitted piece 90 degrees and work along the long edge continuing with Color A. You should have 1 stitch on the needle.

Pick up and knit 57 (57, 57, 57, 61, 61, 61) sts — 58 (58, 58, 58, 62, 62, 62) sts on needle.

PM and join to work in the round.

Rounds 1-4: *K1, P1; repeat from * to end.

Cut Color A. Continue with the pattern in Color B.

Begin Raglan Shaping

Round 1: K4, pm, k1, pm, k5 (5, 5, 5, 7, 7, 7), [sleeve stitches], pm, k1, pm, k22, [back stitches], pm, k1, pm, k5 (5, 5, 5, 7, 7, 7), [sleeve stitches], pm, k1, pm, k18.

Round 2 (increase 8 round): * Knit to marker, yo, slip marker, k1, slip marker, yo; repeat from * three times more, knit to end of round — 8 stitches increased.

Round 3: Knit

Round 4 (increase 4 round): * Knit to marker, yo, slip marker, k1, slip marker, knit to marker, slip marker, k1, slip marker, yo; repeat from * once more, knit to end of round — 4 stitches increased.

Round 5: Knit

Repeat Rounds 2-5 for 0 (0, 0, 0, 1, 2, 3) times more — 70 (70, 70, 70, 86, 98, 110) sts on needle.
