3pm Game Day Mystery Make-Along 2019

3pm Play ????

This part of the project makes a great addition to the hat (yes, it’s a hat) and will ultimately make the fit of the hat more snug and uniquely “Marly”. However, after the event some of the crocheters didn’t want to make this part and added a crochet ribbing around the hat instead. That makes a really nice finish to the hat, and I do like the idea. That is why I am mentioning it here. (updated 2.6.19)

With smaller hook (I used a smaller hook but if you find you are having issues seeing the stitches go ahead and try a larger hook updated 2.6.19)

Chain 6

Row 1: slip stitch (sl st) in the 2nd chain from hook through back loop only (BLO) and in each chain to end, ch 1, turn –5 slip stitches.

Place a marker in the middle stitch

Row 2 (increase row): Slip stitch in each stitch BLO to 1 stitch BEFORE the marker, sl st BLO TWICE in next stitch (this is the stitch before marker), sl st BLO in marked stitch, move marker to newly made middle stitch, sl st BLO TWICE in next stitch, sl st BLO to end of row, ch 1, turn –2 stitches increased.

Row 3: Slip stitch in each stitch BLO to marked stitch, sl st in BLO of marked stitch, move marker to newly made middle stitch, sl st in each stitch BLO to end of row, ch 1, turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until there are 21 stitches. Continue to move middle stitch marker up each row.

Use a second marker, place it at the end of the last row 2 you completed. This will help you know where you need to measure from for the next part.
