Adult Without Hair— Brim to top of hat = 10” [25.4 cm]; Circumference = 20” [50.8 cm] around brim, 22” [55.88 cm] around body.
Adult With Hair— Brim to top of hat = 10” [25.4 cm]; Circumference = 22” [55.88 cm] around brim, 24” [60.96 cm] around body.
GAUGE
1 wing stitch set = 2.2” with larger hook.

This is a beginner-friendly crochet hat pattern especially for the adventurous beginner who wants to broaden their crochet skills just a little bit.

Worsted Weight Yarn
**A non-itchy yarn is recommended if making this hat for somebody without hair or going through Chemo. It’s always important to use soft yarn when making crochet or knit chemo caps.
Sample used: Caron Cakes; 17016 Bumbleberry, 1 ball [80% acrylic & 20% wool].

The brim for this crochet cancer hat is made in rows – worked back and forth flat.
Use stitch markers to evenly section out the brim before working the set-up row 1.
The body of the Wings of Hope crochet hat pattern is made in the round, working along the side edge of the brim.
The stitch pattern repeat in the round is 10.

Double Crochet 2 Together (dc2tog): Yarn over hook, insert hook into next stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 loops (2 loops on hook); yarn over hook, insert hook into next stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Wash and block hat to final measurement.
Add pom pom (optional)
