My Mountain

My mountain is a lifestyle…we all have a mountain that we climb in life; what is your mountain? My mountain is a youthful collection of yarns and patterns for making your own personalized lifestyle hat. Get out there with your out wear. Make your own hat and make your mark – on the mountain, on the trail, wherever the next challenge takes you!

There will be over 30 FREE patterns in both knitting and crochet available soon on the My Mountain website (https://us.schachenmayr.com/mymountain).

The lucky Cindy from Canyon City, CO won a couple balls of Lumio which will be PERFECT for her son who likes to run long distance at night. The reflective thread running through the yarn will alert drivers and such that he is on the road. We all know that every single one of his friends are going to want their own hat.

Be sure to leave a comment for your chance to win a Bulky Yarn Package! Two lucky winners will be chosen on the next podcast.

My nephew has done a lot of traveling, he’s in college today, hope to ask him soon if he’s been to Boston. He’s recently disabled from the Army, for his hearing loss. He wears a beanie to cover his hearing aids, but he needs a new one. The brighter the better, that Lumio says to me…. 🙂

Loved the My Mountain podcast. My Mountain is to learn more about Knitting techniques to get to be a great knitter and to then start designing or working in the industry in some way. Maybe I’ll open up an LYS in Boston!!

Thanks for another great show! My mountain is similar to yours. I love to make things and people seem to like them but I keep holding myself back from taking the plunge and trying to open my own store on Etsy, or something similar. I need to get over my fear that it won’t work, or that I don’t know enough to start. I am a planner and like to know how it is going to work out before I start! This was another great show, I have never been to Boston but maybe one day I will get there!

I am a bit of a “Survivor” fan, and also think of Boston Rob whenever I hear the name of that city! My mountain is to learn to go out and discover the world a bit more. I travel a lot, but seem to spend a big chunk of my time just knitting of crocheting quietly. It’s certainly not a bad thing, but I just need to go out more!

One of my good friends just started grad school in Boston, and I love knitting her things because she will need them- it gets cold! But also it’s nice for her to know her good friends back home are still thinking of her. I also love that Boston Rob is now trending on this comment feed. Haven’t thought of Survivor in a while!

Hello… Loved the show finally got some quiet time so I could listen to it. I wanted to share my MOUNTAIN with everyone…. its my compulsiveness and multi-taking it can be considered a good thing in the sense that I do not like starting a new project until I complete one. It keeps me organized and but can slow things down as well since I have a “daily schedule” that I stick to along with cleaning schedule etc…. some days it leaves little me time..

I also wanted to say that even though I have never been to Boston or any other North Eastern state I did make to West Virginia when my parents lived there and loved that area…. it stinks I was not a yarnie at that point I am sure there was some pretty cool LYS I missed out on :/

How fun to learn about a ” new to me” yarn company. Love My Mountain website. Thanks for the great podcast. Marley have fun at Stitches MidWest, hope you have a direct flight from CO. And not one of those crazy flights that take you east to Boston to get to Chicago.

Wow! It took all day for me to get time and connection but i thoroughly enjoyed my first podcast! Glad i found more of you now.
I had plenty of time to scour the site though and really enjoy all your “notes” as well. I wish i could say the Boston marathon would have been my mountain… instead, My mountain is similar to yours Marly, after beading for over 20 yrs and always wanting to be better in fiberworks… well, knowing i could execute “if i wanted to” but not attempting it or something even with a bit of a challenge, it made me feel as though i was still “perfect”. But never actually having a completed project of stature. Taking that leap to “do it” is the big mountain. And letting the flaws come through and learn from them… not letting my perfectionist nature take over that stops me from “doing”. Now… i also wish that were my only mountain in life but i do have others that pertain to other areas of my life too. It does feel great to know i have climbed and am so close to the top. It also keeps me going.

I too have never been to Boston, but would love to visit one day because of the rich, long history of the city! My mountain would be my terrible shyness. Since I started the job I have now five years ago though I’ve been working on overcoming it and finally feel like I’m at a point in my life where I’m almost comfortable engaging strangers in conversation. It makes me really happy to see progress in myself!

Oops, forgot about my mountain…. umm… I’d say my mountain has been learning to live within my limitations. I tend to want to do way more then is humanly possible, which means I’ve wreaked myself thing to do everything, and felt guilty that I wasn’t doing everything. Still struggle with this one a bit, but I’m doing much better at it!

Boston is a city I love to visit. My daughter ran in the marathon several years ago. We would have loved to have matching hats for the whole family as a tribute to her run. My mountain would be a excellent choice.

I’ve not gotten to see the nice parts of Boston, yet. We are professional drivers, and either don’t get to stop or only stop in the industrial parts of any town. I listen and enjoy all of your podcasts as I drive. You have kept me awake through some pretty tedious hours behind the wheel. Thanks Marly, and thank you to “My Mountain”, driving that big truck was one of my mountains.

Very insightful podcast, have never heard of My Mountain yarn but I will sure be ordering some in the next few weeks. I have a cousin who just got into snowboarding out west up in Oregon. This yarn would be perfect to make him a new hat for Christmas! I wonder if there are any good hills to go snowboarding at in Boston? If so, maybe he could make a trip out east with his colorful new hat 😉

I also love the yarn with neon in it and Lumio–I am heading out to my local yarn shop which carries some of these yarns to see them in person. These prize would be an awesome addition to my yarn stash…a friend & I do a lot of walking in her neighborhood and it is after dark (like we are walking about 1 1/2 hours a night and finishing up about 11:30pm) so knitting something with this yarn would be a blessing for my husband…he has been after us to wear reflective clothing or something.
