Marly Bird shows you how to use this puffy loop yarn in the round, how to knit, how to join yarn, and how to k2tog with loop-it. There is no reason a beginner knitter or beginner crochet can not make this mermaid tail blanket today!

About the Pattern:
This video tutorial will show you how to make the Loopy Mermaid Tale Blanket. Perfect for the beginner or someone who doesn’t know how to knit or crochet. Using the Loop-It yarn from Red Heart you won’t need any needles or hooks to work on this project.

Although this pattern is labeled as a blanket it really is something a little more. Rather than being a traditional blanket that you would lay over your lap you get to put your legs inside the tail when you use it. This is a great blanket for a kid, or any mermaid lover. Best of all not matter your age or skill you can make this blanket on your own.
Be sure to check out all of the Loop-it colors, including the new ones that have just been added. In this pattern the designer used a variegated color for the body of the tail and then a sold color for the fin. Feel free to grab your favorite color and try out something different. Make it all in one solid color or try your hand at stripes.
All of my video tutorial so far using Loop-it yarn have showed you how to work flat. Through this video and project you will learn how to use Loop-it in the round. This will take your use of the yarn to the next level.

I can’t find Loop-It Yarn… is there something else I can use?
So here’s the thing… it can be a bit tricky to find Loop-It yarn now. But don’t you worry! You can use Bernat Alize Blanket-EZ yarn instead. It works up the exact same way, so your mermaid tail will still be amazing.
Is this mermaid tail blanket just a regular blanket?
Not quite! While it’s called a blanket, it’s more like a cozy tail you put your legs into. It’s perfect for any mermaid lover, young or old, and you can totally make it yourself!
What if I’m a total beginner at knitting or crochet? Can I still do this?
Absolutely! This project is super beginner-friendly, even if you’ve never knitted or crocheted before. The video tutorial will walk you through everything, including how to use the Loop-It yarn in the round.
Can I use different colors for my mermaid tail?
Yes, you can definitely get creative with colors! The pattern uses a variegated yarn for the body and a solid for the fin, but you can use your favorite colors, try stripes, or even make the whole thing one solid shade. Have fun with it!
