6/10 ~ Guest Jacqueline Sava of Soak on Yarn Thing Podcast with Marly Bird.
Marly broadcasted live while on location, she’s going to meet Dianna Galbadon, author of the Outlander books… You heard that episode, right? https://www.blogtalkradio.com/yarnthing/2013/10/03/diana-gabaldon-talks-about-outlander
Jacqueline Sava was designing knitwear and was often asked how to take care of them. About 8 years ago, they began to seek the best ways to take care of our wool knits… and SOAK was born! Care was taken in selecting everything about the product including the packaging.
Soak website: https://www.soakwash.com/ Many popular choices of scents including Fragrance Free and Bio-degradable (and thus clear and color-free). Recently rebranded, formula has been updated to plant-derived, 100% post consumer resin bottles (recycled), labels are recycled and water-based ink were redesigned, too! Lizzy House designed the Yuzu labels, Sandi Henderson did Celebration labels, Joanna Figueroa did the fig labels, Denyse Schmidt did the Scent-less labels.
Their products includes:
- Handmade, a Shea-butter based hand-cream that is absorbed into your skin
- Soakboxes, knitting gift kit, includes Lorna’s Laces Yarn, with a pattern by Fiona Ellis, with nail polish to match, you could give to a knitter and they can knit the gloves or you could knit the gloves and give the whole kit to a non-knitter.
- Flatter fabric spray, great for spray blocking lace, but other times complete water soak is not to advantage in blocking. Also, great for spraying fabric when traveling to refresh the garment.
- Nail polish colors to match your yarn is fun. SOAK is working to put together a blog post for how to have a Nail Party at your LYS or knit night. How fun is that! The Ravelry collection has been a big hit. https://soakwash.com/store/cdn_retail/soak-boxes/nail-polish-sb/ravpolish.html
She will be at Quilt Canada today, in the UK mid-July for Unwind in Briton. Soak can also be found at lingerie trade-shows this summer.

I have never tried Soak wash but after listening to this podcast I am really intrigued. I’ve only used a certain unscented wool wash, but I like the idea of a pretty scent. I love the other products too; I really want to try the Flatter spray…does it really remove wrinkles?!! I also love those nail polish sets, particularly the Ravelry and Sandi Henderson inspired ones. I love when my nails match my knitting.
Soak is amazing…I love the way it makes my garments smell and feel so wonderful. What a great idea to add nail polish to the soak line!!
I’m so inspired by Jacqueline as an entrepreneur. I would love to try her Soak and Flatter products and was surprised to hear that her company now creates nail polish. What fun!
I haven’t tried the Soak wash yet but it sounds like it is just what I need. The packaging on the nail polish sets is really cute! I think all of the products would make a great gift for any fiber enthusiast!
Loved this episode! I had heard about Soak, but haven’t tried it yet. I’m adding Flatter and some of the nail polish to my wish list! 🙂
I love that you are being environmentally responsible and that soak is biodegradable.
Adding nail polish to the gift packages is a great idea.
I have one of the Soak kits that has nail polish, yarn for fingerless mitts, and Soak. It is so cute. I loved knitting the mitts and plan on gifting them along with the rest of the kit. So much fun. Great interview with Jacqueline Sava.
Soak and nail polish is a novel idea. There’s so much to the Soak world that I was unaware of. Great interview.
I hardly ever wear nailpolish but I do have a 19 year old daughter that does. So, the next time at my local yarn shop I’ll be on the look out for one of your gift ideas. Fun interview. Thanks.
I haven’t worn nail polish in years because I threw all my old stuff out, but I’d love to try some new stuff!
