My Crocheted Closet by Salena Baca

My Crocheted Closet:

Salena has put together a beautiful book made up of 22 styles for every day of the week. Not only are the designs amazing but she also made sure to take the time and get the photography and accessories just right. Each pattern that I looked at made me want to pick up a hook and get to work.

In the book Salena points out that many crocheters stick with accessories. They are quick and easy and don’t really require you to purchase expensive yarn if you don’t want to. When making a garment there is a little more thought and consideration required.

To make a full garment you must consider gauge and how the fabric will drape. Crochet garments are large projects and you need to be sure to start off right from the beginning. Don’t be afraid of purchasing more expensive yarn or taking some extra time to make sure that your piece will turn out the way that you see in the book, it will be worth it in the end.

Salena says that she was attempting to highlight her love of crochet and how it can transform and elevate our closet. After looking through the patterns I would agree that she hit the mark. These aren’t your traditional crochet patterns and the way that they are styled really make them look on trend, without being trendy, and classical. I can’t wait to get started on my first piece!

There are even some really cute crochet shorts patterns in this book, which you don’t find too often.
