About the Pattern:

This super cute pattern is relatively easy to construct. The hardest part is keeping the increases and the decreases in the correct locations while working the stitch pattern.

There are four different sizes in this pattern. Before you get started you will need to decide which will fit your dog best and be sure to mark the size throughout the pattern so you know what sizes you need throughout.

As we start working this pattern we will be using straight needles and then later on we will switch to circular needles. Inside the pattern you will see an increase of a make one and make one purl. This might be a little different from what you have seen before. Work along with me in the pattern to learn this method of increasing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes does the dog sweater pattern come in?

So here’s the thing… this super cute pattern comes in four different sizes! You’ll want to decide which size fits your furry friend best before you start knitting. Make sure to mark the size throughout the pattern so you don’t lose track!

Can I use different needles for the sleeves?

Honestly… yes! One of our crafty friends asked if they could make the sleeves before seaming up the back and use 9″ circular needles instead of double-pointed needles. That’s a great idea if you find DPNs tricky to work with!

What yarn is used in the dog sweater pattern?

You’ll need RED HEART® With Love® yarn for this project. Specifically, you’ll want one skein each of Evergreen A, Holly Berry B, and Iced Aqua C. It makes for such a cheerful sweater!

Is the dog sweater pattern difficult?

Well, it’s considered relatively easy to construct! The trickiest part is keeping those increases and decreases in the right spots while you’re working the stitch pattern. But don’t worry, working along with the video tutorial will help you through it!

Do I need special needles for this pattern?

Yes! You’ll start with straight needles and then switch to circular needles later on. The pattern calls for 5mm (US 8) Susan Bates® Knitting Needles, and a 5mm (US 8), 16″ circular needle. You’ll also need a set of 5mm (US 8) double-pointed needles for some parts.

Love this dog sweater! Have watched both of your videos and have a quick question. Can I make the ‘sleeves’ before I seam up the back? I also would like to use either 1 or 2 9″ circular needles for this part. I have a heck of a time using the DP needles. THANKS
