About Briana:

I am Briana, I design fun stuff in both knit and crochet.

My crochet journey (I like to imagine myself hiking through mountains with a backpack full of yarn) began with wanting to make something for my unborn child. Unfortunately when my mom was re-teaching me I went into labor and she finished my project.

A few months later I learned to make my first hat, a lopsided horrible looking Mickey Mouse hat. But, eventually it clicked and the passion only has grown. I’ve found a love for knitting, felting, and spinning (even though I’m still not great at that).

In early 2014 I changed my Etsy shop from selling physical items to patterns. I find I need constant stimulation and making the same item over and over was killing my passion. Now I’m designing all the time and love it!!!

I never even know what I will do next, but this year I’ve opportunity to create a stunning and new technique for the crochet world. I will always be a constant learner and love getting my hands on new stitches. The fiber arts world is so inspiring!!!

  3. Joanna Vosper says:

I really enjoyed listening to the podcast and my fav thing to do on a cold winter evening here in the UK is get my needles and wool and watch Netflix. x

  4. Sarah Dawn says:

Hello again! I had a wonderful chuckle when I heard “Netflix”, because I completely understand! Yarn, Netflix, and a mug of tea is basically the perfect night for me. (maybe adding in a cat if the cat will deign to sit on my lap 😀 )

  5. Ellen M CROOKS says:

1st time to see the live show on youtube. Enjoyed your conversation with Brianna K. Going to try and find your yarn mentioned on the broadcast. Netflix, Ellen

  6. Liri says:

I am so looking forward to delving into this crochet cabling. I’ve never tried it before but it looks really nice I want to see if I can put it on a scarf to start. Looks like I’ll be watching one of BriannaK’s videos while I Netflix on my tablet. I’m so excited to get started.

  7. Gayle Jones says:

This this my first time to listen to your podcast. So glad it was live on YouTube. Netflix is the keyword. Hope I win!

  8. Ellen says:

Awesome broadcast! i do not like netflixs so just bought the ebook myself to enjoy while I listen to Critical Role on Twitch.

  9. Charlotte McImtosh says:

I enjoyed learning about a new (to me) designer. Loved her designs on Ravelry. Always love to be working on a crochet project while binge-watching NetFlix!! Thanks for this opportunity to win a great e-book with a new technique to learn!

  10. Carol Walker says:

Netflix and yarn are a wonderful combination. It’s a big reason I weave different colored yarn through my work so I don’t have to keep counting rows. Of course, half the time, I have to back up to actually ‘watch’ a scene, but splitting my focus like that is no worse than when I get distracted by something shiny and wander off.

  11. Barbara Graf says:

OMG Netflix and yarn is the best. I feel like I’m in my own little world when those to things are going at one time!! So glad to know I’m not the only one!! What a great show we had today.

  12. Brittany Rupe says:

Thank you so mucj for answering my question about just where do I start. I love watching your podcasts! It really makes me believe that I can do this. I love benging on netflix and gettinh my yarn fix!

  13. Vicki Peltier says:

Today was a first…love ur podcast! Normally tune into Netflix while knitting or crocheting but today saw u was on live and since I am currently trying to finish a wip which is ur Big Comfy Sweater thought I would join in! U are awesome and can’t wait to try out the new yarn!!

  14. Luann Wright says:

Great show. I do most of my yarn crafts while binge listening to Netflix. One day I might actually watch some of the shows HAHA

  15. Luna Wilder says:

Loved this interview. Now I feel like I know another favorite designer even better. And, thank you Briana K. for introducing me to Stranger Things on Netflix. I binged my way through Murdoch Mysteries/Doc Martin/Call the MIdwife/ and a few others. I needed something new. BTW, I had fun with my first Infinity Crochet project. I’m looking forward to more creations using this technique. Hope you can make it to Marly’s studio sometime soon. 🙂

  16. Tanya Mullis says:

Wow, this is so exciting! First I get excited about your new yarn, then see you have a podcast (old school here, only been listening to podcasts for a week or so), then my first Marly Bird podcast is with Briana K (who’s designs I first saw through the NICU challenge), then I hear all about this new technique and to put a cherry on my already big cake, there is a give away too! Who needs Netflix if you have all this! Thank you for a wonderful hour, I will now go and listen to ALL the previous broadcasts!

  17. Jennifer Rodriguez says:

NETFLIX and working on my latest WIP is the best. This is my first time listening to your podcast and I cant wait to listen to the next one

  18. Derek Pryor says:

I find Netflix to distracting. A good podcast, like this one , does the job. I don’t do much crochet, but this is inspiring me to do it more.

  19. amy says:

I really enjoyed learning about the infinite crochet and if I don’t win the e-book I am definitely going to have to buy it so that I can sit down with Netflix while I master a new crochet technique.

  20. Colleen Caro says:

Lovin the infinity cables can’t wait to see your future designs…so cool. Have been wanting to do traveling or multidirectional cables. Isn’t it the netflix season for us all, cold here, and my yarn is married to the TV too. Thx again for a great show.

  21. Kathy Itson says:

Loved hearing both of your thoughts about failing and succeeding was so great to hear. We all go through times when we struggle through things and what you said was very helpful. Thanks so much.

I love knitting and watching shows on Netflix. Keep up the great work.

  22. Becky Merritt says:

I love crochet, I absolutely can’t get enough of cables, and I love learning new things! Netflix is the secret word.

  23. Sheila Sweet says:

Okay. So I put my comment in the wrong place! I think I found the right spot now. Perhaps I need an instructional video from Netflix as to where to put my comment? I can’t wait to try out your new yarn Marly! Thank you for a great podcast. I think I will try those crocheted cables with it.

  24. Becky Stahl says:

Great Podcast! I love watching Netflix and crocheting or listening and listening to audiobooks also. Thanks for the chance to win!

  25. Helen Oglesby says:

Hi Marly, this is my first time listening to your podcast (I’m a week old podcast convert), it was great! It was also riveting listening to Briana and learning about infinity crochet (Frustrating cos I had to wait to finish my car journey to look it up and see what it looked like). It looks stunning and having something that makes cables easier while watching Netflix is just what I need. Its also fascinating to see fundamental new developments in such classic crafts as crochet still happening. Thanks – from a future regular listener

  26. trisha says:

I haven’t watched much Netflix, but I do love the combination of it and yarn work. I prefer to listen to podcasts when I knit or crochet. Yarn with anything is great!

  27. Bonnie says:

I love crochet cables and Brianna’s enthusiasm was very refreshing and made me excited to go check out her infinity cabled design. I also binge watched Stranger Things on Netflix!

  28. Suzanne S says:

I couldn’t live without Netflix; it’s the perfect sidekick to my knitting. I’m glad briana feels the same way.
