Collar measures 8.75 (10.5, 12)” [22, 26.5, 30.5 cm] in width

Gauge 

16 sts and 24 rows = 4″ [10 cm] x 4” [10 cm] in Simple Lace pattern, after blocking.

Note: This stitch pattern tends to stretch widthwise and shrink lengthwise as the piece gets bigger. To account for this, when blocking your gauge swatch, pull it horizontally before pinning.

  • The main body of the Cocoon is worked first in a rectangle shape. The short edges are then folded and sewn together to form the sleeve holes. The ribbed Cuffs are picked up from the main body and worked circularly. The collar is worked separately then seamed on the body
    • – Cocoon Body is worked back and forth from sleeve to sleeve and with the self striping yarn the color is vertical stripes on the back.
    • – Cuffs are worked circularly and the stripes appear horizontal on the sleeves.
    • – Collar is working in one piece and seamed on later.  Stripes appear horizontal around the body opening.

BODY

Cast on 84 (100, 116) sts.

Work in SImple Lace pattern until piece measures 47.25 (55.25, 63)” [120, 140, 160) cm].

Bind off all sts loosely.

Block to schematic size

FINISHING

Fold the corners down diagonally (as shown on schematic) 10.75 (11.75, 14.5)” [27.5, 30, 37 cm]from the short edge. Mark 4.5” [11.5 cm] from the center point towards the short edge (as show on schematic).  Whip stitch from edge to marked location, leaving the remaining portion to the center point unseamed for attaching the cuff.

Cuffs

With double pointed needles, pick up and knit 40 sts evenly around the resulting cuff hole, beginning and ending at seam. Join round and mark first st.

Work in 2×2 Ribbing for 6″ [15 cm].

Bind off all sts loosely in rib pattern.

Work other cuff the same.
