Gauge 

13 sc by 16 rows = 4” [10 cm] x 4” [10cm}; use any size hook to obtain the gauge. 

MATERIALS

Yarn 

WeCrochet Brava Worsted Weight (100% fiber content, 218 yds / 200 m, 3.5 oz/ 100 g, CYCA# 4 worsted), 1 ball each:

Color A: #25696 Dove Heather (NEUTRAL COLOR)

Color B: #28431 Fairy Tale (DARKER SHADE OF COLOR 1)

Color C: #26136 Lady Slipper (LIGHTER SHADE OF COLOR 1)

Color D: #28446 Rouge (DARKER SHADE OF COLOR 2)

Color E: #26135 Cotton Candy (LIGHTER SHADE OF COLOR 2)

Hook

Size I/9 (5.5 mm)

SPECIAL STITCHES 

  • Third Loop (3rd loop): Middle bar located on wrong side of st under the top two loops (created by the yarn over)
  • Half Double Crochet 2 Together (hdc2tog): Yarn over, *insert hook into indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop; repeat from * in next stitch indicated, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook. (1 decrease)
  • Linked Treble Crochet (Linked tr): 
    • First Linked tr: Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yarn over and pull up a loop (creates 1 “yo”), insert hook into next ch, yarn over and pull up a loop (creates 2nd “yo”), insert hook into stitch indicated, [yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook] 3 times.
    • Next Linked tr: Insert hook (staying on the right side from the top to the bottom vertically) into the first horizontal middle bar (created by the “yo”), yarn over and pull up a loop, insert hook into next middle bar, yarn over and pull up a loop, insert hook into next stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] 3 times
    • Joining Linked Treble Crochet (joining linked tr): Insert hook (staying on the right side from the top to the bottom vertically) into the first horizontal middle bar (created by the “yo”), yarn over and pull up a loop, insert hook into next middle bar, yarn over and pull up a loop, insert hook into next stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop, , skip next st,  [insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and draw through stitch and 2 loops on hook at the same time] 3 times

NOTES

  • There are options in the pattern to use stitches other than what is shown on the sample. You only need to choose ONE of the options.
    • For example, the pattern start is written for foundation stitches; but if you do not like foundation stitches, please follow option #2 with chains.  Both options will work and the option is for what you enjoy to crochet more. 
  • Project is worked in the round without turning at the end of the round. 
  • Working in the third loop of the hdc gives a wonderful texture to the project, but if this is too challenging or not enjoyable, just work through either the back loop or both loops as normal.

ALL OPTIONS

Round 6: Join Color D to any middle hdc (of the 3 dc group)  in the 3rd loop with sl st, ch 2 (counts as hdc), hdc in 3rd loop of first hdc, *hdc in 3rd loop of next 2 sts, [hdc2tog in 3rd loop of next 2 sts] twice, hdc in 3rd loop of next 2 sts**, 3 hdc in 3rd loop of next st; repeat from * around ending at **, hdc in 3rd loop of first hdc, sl st to top of beginning ch, change to color E, do not fasten off D. 

OPTION #1

Round 7: Ch 1, sc in top of beginning ch, *ch 3, linked tr in 3rd loop of next 3 sts, joining linked tr in 3rd loop of next st (this will join the valley and other side of the chevron to the linked stitches)**, sc in next hdc; repeat from * around ending at **, sl st to first sc, change color to D, fasten off E. (9 linked tr groups)

Round 8: Ch 1, hdc in first sc, *hdc in next 2 ch, 3 hdc in next tr, hdc in next 3 tr**, hdc in next sc; repeat from * around ending at **, sl st to first hdc, change color to A,  fasten off D. (81 hdc).

OPTION #2

Round 7: Ch 1, sc in top of beginning ch, *ch 3, tr in 3rd loop of next 4 hdc, skip 4 hdc**, sc in next hdc; repeat from * around ending at **, sl st to first sc, change color to D, fasten off E. (9 tr groups)

Round 8: Ch 1, *3 hdc in ch-3 sp, 3 hdc in next tr, hdc in next 3 tr, skip next sc; repeat from * around, sl st to first hdc, change color to A,  fasten off D. (81 hdc).

ALL OPTIONS

Round 9: Ch 1, skip first hdc, hdc in 3rd loop of next hdc, *hdc in 3rd loop of next 2 sts, 3 hdc in 3rd loop of next st, hdc in 3rd loop of next 2 sts**, [hdc2tog in 3rd loop of next 2 sts] twice; repeat from * around ending at **, hdc2tog in 3rd loop of last 2 sts, sl st to first hdc, fasten off A.

Finished Measurements: 4.25” [11 cm] tall by 10” [25.5 cm] wide
