TNNA Recap!

Hi Folks!

This week, fresh off the plane, Marly brought us her recap of her weekend at TNNA‘s convention in Columbus, Ohio and all the fun things that went on while she was there.

She mentioned the YarnThing Designer Dinner she hosted, seeing her fiber friends in the industry, getting to meet all kinds of new designers and the general fun that TNNA can be!

This week, she gave away some of the fun stuff from the goody bags at the Designer Dinner on the air, and the blog giveaway this week is for a great Chic-A Bag and some super yummy Bijou Basin Ranch Lhasa Wilderness yarn!  Leave your comment here on the blog with the secret word/phrase.

Marly will be off the air for the next three weeks since she will be on the Craft Cruise to Alaska, but that gives you all more time to enter for this week’s giveaway, as well as catch up on archived episodes of the podcast!

Marly also posed the question to you, her loyal listeners!  Who do YOU want to hear on the show?  Who do you want to know more about, what is going on in the industry you’re curious about?  Shoot Marly an email and tell her so that she can work on getting those folks on the show!

Happy Crafting everyone!!!

Marly, I love listening to your podcast. I have learned so much it is amazing to me. I think you are very interesting to listen to even without a guest. Thank you for all the hard work you do. And oh, thank goodness I don’t wear Spanx!

  2. Audrey Friedman says:

Thanks, Marly, for you wisdom & laughter. Even my Spanx can’t hold in my own giggles while listening to you!

  3. Tammy B. (ravelry screen name wearingpurple) says:

I, too, love listening to your podcast, sometimes wish there was a slumber party, knit group to get together in. We will all be denied while you are gone, will have to wait for two whole weeks to hear all about it, but even a podcast needs a vacation. For your cruise, I would recommend leaving your Spanx at home. You don’t need them, you’re beautiful, and you won’t enjoy the buffet with them at all. Enjoy!

  4. April Garwood says:

Love your podcast Marly! I like having you to listen to when my hubby is working late or out of town. I get to ditch my spanx, relax in my jammies, and get my yarn on while listening to you! Enjoy your cruise!

  5. knittinghawk says:

Marly, I will be in Alsaka next week as well! Though I’ll have fun with family while exploring inland, I would sooo rather be packing my spanx to be on the cruise with you:>)

  6. Karen Balcerski says:

Loved your show and hearing more about you. I am a rather new listener to podcasts and yours was the 1 st one I found. Thank you for all the information you bring to us and your give a ways always sound fantastic. I have to say I’ve never worn spanx but have heard much about them. Enjoy your cruise and time away!

  7. hotknitter says:

Loved hearing the behind-the-scenes stories of TNNA. Makes me wanna wear some Spanx to hold in my yarn yearnings.

  8. Anita Dodds says:

Too hot today to knit or to wear Spanx. Oh what will I do? Guess I could turn on the air conditioning.

  9. Margo says:

I like your podcast whether you have a guest or not. I have never worn any Spanx, if they are anything like a girdle I’ll pass. Enjoy your cruise.

  10. Terri says:

Marly, we will miss your podcast! Have a great time! And I have a tip for those who can’t afford Spanx… the same manufacturer makes a line that’s about $10 cheaper per item, sold in Target. That’s what I buy. 🙂

  11. Jennifer Hill says:

Hi Marly, I really enjoyed hearing about the Designer dinner that you organize at TNNA. I hope that you really enjoy your cruise – we just went on our first one and it was amazing. Be sure to go on the shore excursions and if you dress up for one of the formal dinners, don’t forget your Spanx!

    Jennifer

  12. Emma (aka kesal on Ravelry) says:

I thought it was a sign when you mentioned spanx as I was walking past a lingerie store and saw they had a spanx sign in the window. I’d never seen them here before!
    Have a great cruise!

  13. Dominik says:

Hmmm… Spanx. After 4 years of knitting and crocheting instead of exercising, I’m starting to consider getting them. Or maybe I should just find a bit more balance in my life. Or find a way to exercise WHILE knitting or crocheting!

  14. sharonp13 says:

Spanx is a crazy work to try and add to a knitting and crochet podcast comment! I loved listing to ou talk about the Designers Dinner at TNNA! I hope you have a great trip!

  15. venessa says:

You are *never* boring Marly. We will all miss you and your laughter. I hope the cruise is wonderful. I don’t have any Spanx but I could probably use them… nah, forget it.

  16. Pamela says:

Podcasts are the best. I have never heard of spanx, maybe it’s because I’m from Down Under. Would be great if that boat your going on detoured here. Hope you enjoy your holiday. take Care

  17. Knitterchow says:

Marly, have a wonderful vacation. Some days I feel like I can’t leave the house without Spanx.

  18. Amy aka GreenWoman says:

I had to Google Spanx to find out what it was. A torture device apparently. I hope you enjoy your cruise!

  19. Cindy says:

Hi Marly- I enjoy your show and appreciate that you include crochet. Hope that your cruise is great fun but please don’t pack your spanx!

  20. Anaid says:

Marly, I am hoping to join you all at TNNA God willing one day 🙂 Let’s just hope that when I do I am not in spanx, one can only dream, right?

  21. Carol says:

Loved hearing the recap of tnna. I live in columbus and would love to stalk all if the designers you mentioned! I’m sure you had a great time , spanx or no spanx included!

  22. Lisa Ferron says:

It’s too hot right now to wear spanx but it if I’m wearing knitwear on my bottom half, wearing spanx is a must so I don’t look like a jello butt!

  23. Dianna J. says:

Marly- you are a great guest on your own show! It takes real talent to keep talking when you don’t have a guest to interact with. “Spanx” alot for the great show and I look forward to the next one.

  24. Lois says:

I’ve always been afraid of Spanx. What if they suddenly “give out,” and all of me explodes into my clothes, leaving me looking like ten pounds of bread dough in a five pound bag? You say “Spanx?” I say “Muumuu!”

  25. Janet says:

It’s too hot/humid to even think about Spanx!

Just found the podcast, and it’s great. You’re so enthusiastic about knitting/crochet, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one out there! (well, I guess Ravelry also tells me I’m not alone, but its good to hear a voice)

  26. Judith Gellerstein says:

I haven’t tried Spanx yet but I know I’m definitely heading in that direction. Too bad we can’t crochet them…

  27. Kate M says:

Sounds like you had a great time at TNNA this year! Maybe one day I will make it there, and I will be sure to bring my Spanx! Thanks for another great show!

  28. jrouton says:

I loved your show. You will love your cruise. I did not realize that there were Craft Cruise…I am so going to have to look into them. I love the keyword…Spanx…! The gift bags you hand out at your after TNNA sound so wonderful!!! Love you show so much.

  29. Sharon Cowan says:

Love to listen to your podcast. Had not been listening for awhile because my now deceased husband’s illness kept me away from the computer except for quick necessary checks of email. I’m 65 and until recently did not know what the heck Spanx were once I found out realized that I have actually been wearing them for some time. Love your podcast, designs, Craftsy classes and books. Hope to see you at Stitches South next year.

  30. Gayle Torrey says:

What the heck are spanx? They don’t sound like something I’d be apt to wear! I love your podcast and Chica bags are great.

  31. Sheila says:

Marly, I don’t even know what Spanx are! I would love to hear an interview with Amanda Clark of Shuttermonkey designs. She is a a Scottish designer who has won some awards for her designs. Her Beloved Rose Beret is based on an old Macintosh design.
