Yarn: Red Heart Yarns Reflective 

          Main color: Peacock 1 ball (note: I used all but 24” of yarn)

          Contrasting Color: Grey 1 ball

Hook: USJ/10 6mm or size to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: bent tip tapestry needle

Night Vision Messy Bun Hat Gauge:

12 hdc sts and 9 rows  = 4” [10 cm] very important that you get this same measurement for your hat to fit properly.

Hat Dimensions:

Finished Measurement: 20” [50.8 cm] circumference, 7.5” [19.05] tall

Free Messy Bun Hat Pattern:

Crown of Hat

With main color, chain 18, join to the first chain with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch now and throughout), * 1 hdc in each of the next 2 chains, 2 hdc in next ch; repeat from * to end of round, join with a slip stitch to first hdc–24 sts.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, * 1 hdc in each of the next 3 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; repeat from * to end of round, join with a slip stitch to first hdc–30 sts.

Rnd 3:  Ch 2, * 1 hdc in each of the next 4 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; repeat from * to end of round, join with a slip stitch to first hdc–36 sts.

Rnd 4: Ch 2, * 1 hdc in each of the next 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; repeat from * to end of round, join with a slip stitch to first hdc–42 sts.

Rnd 5: Ch 2, * 1 hdc in each of the next 6 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; repeat from * to end of round, join with a slip stitch to first hdc–48 sts.

Rnd 6: Ch 2, * 1 hdc in each of the next 7 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; repeat from * to end of round, join with a slip stitch to first hdc–54 sts.

Rnd 7: Ch 2, * 1 hdc in each of the next 8 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; repeat from * to end of round, join with a slip stitch to first hdc–60 sts.

Body of hat

Rnds 8-17: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc around, join with a slip stitch to first hdc. Fasten off.

Trim

With contrasting color, slip stitch around the bottom edge of the body .

Finishing

Weave in all ends
