I’m feeling deprived as I’ve never knit with Lopi. I do get to hold and squeeze the Rowan yarns in my sister’s stash and look at her beautiful Rowan magazine subscription. I’ve also lived vicariously through her as she recounts her trip to visit Rowan with Jean Moss and to meet Martin Storey. Only In dreams for me! Sigh.
I’ve not knit with lopi (yet…let’s emphasize the yet). About the closest I ever came was some pencil roving that I used to make a most excellent hat (seriously, wear-ability wise, it’s my best knit ever). As for the line of Westminster line, I’m ashamed to admit I’ve not used a huge number of them. I do have some good sturdy German sock yarn in the stash that I’m *pretty* sure is Regia, but somehow it hasn’t ever sung me quite the right song when I started to cast on. Rowan though, rowan can sing me a song any day!
I have had the opportunity to knit with several yarns that Westminster distributes – and of course, I remember the first time I ever used crack silk haze! I live in Melbourne, Australia, where there are relatively warm winters, so I don’t know if I would ever need a true lopi icelandic sweater, but I certainly admire them!
My first pair of socks from Regia yarn taught me about gauge. I had been knitting for many years, and had been told I knit tightly, but it was just my cast-on that was too tight–everything else is loose. I would love to knit a Lopi pullover for myself!
Great show. My first experience with Rowan was when I first moved to the East Coast and took up knitting. I made a vest using Rowan Kid Classic. It was a simple pattern and I was surprised how well it turned out. Of course I know where that one wrong stitch is, but no one else seems to see it. LOL. I haven’t used Lopi yet, which is odd since I bought an Icelandic fleece a year ago to try my hand at processing it, and love it. Being a vest girl I think my dog would look lovely in the Hugo vest featured on the Lopi website. Not sure how he would feel about it though.
Well, I haven’t tried Lopi, but I made a well-loved neckwarmer for the hubby out of Rowan Wool/Cotton.
My stash contains some beautiful Rowan Siena & Kidsilk Haze, and some SMC Catania – all which still needs to be crocheted or knitted into something even more beautiful! I have not knitted with Lopi, but have admired it before!
Regia is my favorite sock yarn, hard wearing and gorgeous color choices! I would love to knit an Icelandic round yoked sweater in Lopi one of these days. Rowan is a dream only so far, love the heathers and tweeds. One day!
I enjoyed this podcast. I have never had the chance to use Lopi or other Rowan yarns… I must make a trip to my LYS to “pet” these wonderful yarns!
Very informative! And all about Lopi, too! I’d love this prize!
I’ve never used Lopi or Rowan yarns, but I’d love to win the prize so that I can have a chance! Love the podcast! <3
