About the Fur Top Crochet Christmas Stocking Pattern:

This is a two part video. Be sure to watch part 1 before moving on to part 2. Part 1 will show you the materials that you need for the pattern and how to get started.

NOTE: At about 3:45 in the first video I started to say the wrong numbers! So sorry, it was the last video on a very long day. The first chain 2 counts as a stitch, then I did 8 sts…making it 9. Then on round 2 I did 2 stitches in each stitch making it 18. then I did increases again on round 3 and you will have 24 (as I mentioned).

We will be working this stocking from the toe up. This is a great way to make your stocking as you can make it as long or short as you would like. I have added stitch markers to my list of materials to help me keep better track of the last stitch of my round, to make sure I don’t miss that one when coming back around.

Part 2 of the videos will show you how to work for the foot, heal, leg and cuff of the stocking. Be sure to watch the second video to see some of my tips for working with Red Heart fur yarn.

Don’t be afraid to play around with colors for this pattern. Change the colors so that you know which stocking belongs to each person or make them all the same and put their initials on it with surface crochet for a different look.

Fur Top Crochet Christmas Stocking Pattern Materials:

  • RED HEART® Super Saver®: 1 skein each of 319 Cherry Red A and 512 Turqua B
Colorway #1: Use A for leg and foot, and B for heel and toe.
Colorway #2: Use B for leg and foot, and A for heel and toe.
  • The fur yarn used in the sample has been discontinued. A good yarn substitute is Fable Fur
    • RED HEART® Boutique Fur™: 1 ball 9100 Polar C
Note: Yarn quantities are sufficient to make two stockings, one in each colorway. To make a single stocking, about 200 yds (183m) are needed for the leg and foot, 50 yds (46m) for the heel and toe, and 5½ yds (5m) for the cuff.
  • Susan Bates® Crochet Hooks: 5.5mm [US I-9] for stocking (except cuff), and 9mm [US M-13] for cuff only
  • Yarn needle
