Vickie Howell is a mother, designer, author, spokesperson, TV host, and DIY Lifestyles expert with a focus on the Needle Arts and creative parenting.
Vickie is most well-known as the Host and Creative Consultant of DIY Network & HGTV’s show, Knitty Gritty, her best selling craft books, and her accessible, inclusive approach to nurturing the creative community via print, video and social media. She’s continued to rally the crafty troops through her work as the International Spokesperson & Creativity Guide for the newly re-branded, Yarnspirations (home of yarn giants, Patons, Bernat, Caron, Lily Sugar n’ Cream), and is looking forward to once again, knitting with viewers nationwide as the new host of PBS’ Knitting Daily TV with Vickie Howell.
Vickie is a board member of the Central & South Texas Chapter of the Epilepsy Foundation and founder of, Purple Stitch Project to benefit children with seizure disorders.

Arm knitting sounds fascinating–there is always something new to learn in the fiber arts world!
And to think that I thought finger knitting was odd……now to find that there is such a thing as arm knitting!
I was surprised to learn my little local library in Anniston Alabama had a arm knitting class a week ago! I need to try it out…. I am a craft junkie 🙂

Wish my local PBS station would air Knitting Daily. I have enjoyed following Vickie since her Knittty Gritty days. I love arm knitting. I made my nieces scarfs for Christmas and they loved them.

Arm knitting sounds great but I cannot see myself doing it. I am one that likes to KNIT socks & hats.Vickie is one person I would love to meet one day…she sounds so AMAZING!
I have been watching this arm knitting trend since last fall, but Vickie has finally inspired me to try it!
I’ve heard of arm knitting and seen pictures of it but I have never tried it.
I am not sure what arm knitting is but it sounds suspiciously like something I did as a kid. Never leave a piece of string around me.
I watch reruns of Knitty Gritty for years and even wrote the network to bring it back so I am thrilled to see Vicki is back on Knitting Daily TV! I was a huge Eunny Jang fan on Knitting Daily and was sad to see her go. I bought the new season of Knitting Daily with trepidation (I wasn’t able to watch Vickie on Knitty Gritty so I wasn’t sure what to expect). I was pleasantly surprised. She is very upbeat and such great fun to watch. I have seen some of the arm knitting craze going about but haven’t tried it myself as yet, though I’m looking forward to doing it soon.
I’m so happy that fiber crafters are so inventive and never stagnate. Arm knitting is just one more interesting twist in our craft.
Arm knitting looks like a lot of fun, on my to do list. Enjoyed the interview with Vicki Howell and glad she is back on tv.
