This week on Tuesday: Kristin Omdahl!
Marly’s good friend Kristin Omdahl joins us to talk about what’s new for her, her time on Knitting Daily, and various other things.
As you may or may not know, Kristin has her own scent with Eucalan called Wrapture.ย Wrapture is scented with the essential oil of Night Blooming Jasmine, a natural aphrodisiac (it does smell heavenly! I love it!).ย In addition to the No-Rinse Delicate Wash already available, the new Fragrant Balm will be coming out very soon.ย The Wrapture Fragrant Balm still incorporates the scent of Night Blooming Jasmine, but now in a moisturizing balm great for your skin.ย Kristin uses it as a subtle perfume as well that won’t spill and ruin your purse (awesome idea, yes?)!
Kristin’s new book, Knitting Outside the Swatch, just came out this week.
This book takes the idea of motifs (very common in crochet) and translates them into knitting and shows you many ways you can use them.ย Not only did she come up with all designs of the garments and accessories, she also designed all the individual motifs and shows you how you can join as you go so there are no seams!ย As an added bonus, if you order the book from Kristin’s website here, you also may also still receive a bottle of Wrapture Delicate Wash with your purchase!ย While you are there, don’t forget to check out her other books.
You can find Kristin in many places including: her website Styled by Kristin, Ravelry, Twitter, and YouTube.
And as usual a *giveaway*! Leave a comment that includes Kristin’s keyword for a chance to win your very own copy of Knitting Outside the Swatch!

Kristen loves fiber arts and butterflies.
I wonder if there’s a pattern with butterflies in it – kind of like some of the ones I see with owls in them.
I so love everything Kristin! One of my favorite colors is purple and it reminds me of beautiful butterflies!!!
I loved listening to the podcast. Butterflies are so beautiful and colorful, great ways to match up colors.
Thanks for another great pod cast! This seems like a great new book. I loved what Kristin did with seamless crochet and I am so excited to see how this works with knitting. I would say that my knitting skills are more like a caterpillar currently, I haven’t morphed into a beautiful butterfly state! ๐ Looking forward to the next show!
I was so happy to take Kristin’s Seamless Crochet class last year at Stitches East. My friend’s daughter is being a monarch butterfly for Halloween.
Did someone say butterflies?
I loved listening to Andrea talking about knit crate before I went to my weekly knitting group…..I admire KnitCrate so much and look forward to every Bi-Monthly box I receive..including my BUMBLEBEE tape measure, one of the extras I had.
Thank you for the Pod Cast ,love to listen and learn and get new ideas, rather like a ordinary little caterpillar taking in all it can before becoming a beautiful butterfly.
As usual, a wonderful podcast. I love Kristin’s work, and I enjoy watching her on Knitting Daily. I knit more than crochet, and I learn so much about crochet from watching Kristin on Knitting Daily. I am also a huge butterfly fan…I even have a “couple” of butterfly tattoos ๐
Enjoyed the podcast. Kristin must love butterflies as much as a friend of mine, who has a butterfly tattoo.

Wow, the concept of knitted motifs is really cool and inventive. I’ve definitely never seen that before. The hat on the cover of the book is really pretty, the colours in it remind me of a butterfly.
I always believe that butterflies come my way when I need the reminder to slow down and be mindful. I can’t wait to see what’s in the pages of Kristin’s latest book.
I’m a big fan of Kristin’s crochet patterns, especially those made up of motifs. It is always fun to join together two motifs and see a new pattern emerge at the join – like a butterfly. I’ve never seen this done with knitting before, and can’t wait to get a hold of Knitting Outside the Swatch!
I love Kristin’s work. I just crocheted a number of hats for Halos of Hope using Olivia’s Butterfly pattern.
Kristin is a creative genius but so down to Earth. Thanks!
Such a great topic!! Awesome podcast ๐ I can’t wait to get my hand on her book to see how she joins motifs on the go! Beautiful designs and yarn colours…they remind me of the beauty of butterflies!
I think it would be very interesting to knit motifs since I’ve only done that in crochet. Now that I’m getting more and more into knit I can’t wait to try a knit motif. Butterflies would be an interesting subject to knit.
So perfect that Kristen picked butterflies to be her word… They are inspirational just like her!
Are there any butterfly motifs in the book? Thank you for the lovely interview with Kristin Omdahl.
It’s way too cold for butterflies here! I need more knitting to keep me warm! Great podcast, as usual!
I can’t wait to smell and wear that heavenly scent, I am sure to make me feel pretty as a butterfly!!! And such a lovely idea for a book! There is noone quite like Kristen!!! She is the best! Love her! Thank you for having her on!

Butterflies are really pretty. Loved the show girls
The new book sounds fascinating! I have one of Kristen’s prior books–“Crochet So Fine.” The cover project looks like a butterfly. ๐
